I haven’t bothered to include categories where my views concur with those already nominated (or those for which I have no opinion/can’t think of anyone)
Thread of the year: Forum Cliques (some funny stuff on this – and always good to have the odd thread which shines a light on the forum and its users)
Flat Horse: Laurens
Riding Performance: Dettori on Stradivarius in the Long Distance Cup (some may say that he shouldn’t have been in that position, or that he was lucky Moore couldn’t stop his horse veering left to give him a chance but I still think most jockeys wouldn’t have gone for that gap)
One to Watch in 2019: Joseph O’Brien (hardly a new face on the block but I reckon 2019 could be an even bigger year for him)
Racecourse: Plumpton (might be worth having a “small” course category as it’s a totally different experience to the big meetings)
Owner: Only ever going to be one winner of this I think but, for the sake of having a list, John Dance

December 4, 2018 at 20:20 #1388026I am only going to put nominations that haven’t already been mentioned.
Poster VTC (Bobby) his summing up of big races are a highlight for me!!
Riding Performance SDS on Ostilio at Royal Ascot a fantastic front running ride from a not very good draw!!
One To Watch Kieran O’Neill who has had his best year yet winners wise but I think may be on the brink of the bigtime!!
And Pants I am humbled by your nomination but feel there are far worthier candidates . Thank you for the nom I am touched
December 7, 2018 at 13:11 #1388319Most of my choices have been mentioned but I will add:
Thread of the year- the late lamented ATR Stable Stars comp thread.
Jump jockey- don’t know if he already got nominated in 2016 when he achieved his ambition of 1000 winners but I will nominate Andrew Thornton who retired this year. As a certain sketch show character used to say, what a thoroughly bloody nice bloke.
Jumps horse- Joint award to Native River and Might Bite for serving us up that gold cup…only a two horse race but had this neutral observer off the sofa and glued to the telly
December 7, 2018 at 14:34 #1388330I miss the ATR Stable Stars Competition too Green, I’ll make enquiries with the new Sky mob
before the jumps season starts again next year and see if they will be resurrecting it.
Considering how popular it was I would think there’s a fair chance they will, even if they
take a small amount for entering a stable I still think it would still be popular, and they
would do well out of it I’d imagine. I’ll post an update when I get a replyDecember 7, 2018 at 15:19 #1388331I miss the ATR Thread too Graham and mostly the banter we all had going on over the horses.
I certainly wouldn’t mind paying a small entry fee and to keep the Leagues at 20 and locked in to TRF players only would give us half a chance to get into the top 20…look forward to your updateThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...December 8, 2018 at 02:40 #1388421Cheers Jac, I’ll post it up when they get back to me, and I think a more restricted league
(to our members) is the way forwardDecember 8, 2018 at 05:36 #1388423Poster – gamble

Jumps jockey – Richard Johnson
Hero – Jack Berry
Broadcaster – Emmet Kennedy

December 8, 2018 at 11:40 #1388488Oh- thought of another one
Hero: Dr Adrian McGoldrick for his continuing research into the mental and physical health of jockeys including long term effects such as osteoporosis. A great man

Blackbeard to conquer the World
December 12, 2018 at 15:07 #1388877Flat Jockey—Conor Keane- Mr consistent and the top dog in Ireland for me (obvious as champion jockey)
Jumps Jockey—David Mullins- the up and comer.
Jumps Trainer—Gordon Elliot, surprised he hasn’t been nominated. Cheltenham top trainer, pipped to Ire title + multiple Grand National wins.
One to Watch in 2019—Paisley Park
Racecourse—Down Royal, small track with plenty of controversey this year- has been turned over by Mike Todd and the crew over the past number of years.
Villain—Bruce Millington- maybe not so much villain, but definitely “tool” of the year. Some additions, better late than never!
