Valued opinions this year, irish angles in particular.
December 2, 2018 at 02:53 #1387821Poster of the Year – So many that deserve recognition, but I’ve got to give it to Nathan this year for his
all-round contributionThread of the year – 4PP & Daylight Cup….20 years and still a class act
Flat Horse – Alpha Centauri …. best miler by far, and her win in the Coronation Stakes had the hairs
on the back of my neck standing up. Such a shame she had to be retired.Jumps Horse – Altior…… won his last 13 races, and never looked like being beaten last season. In a
different classFlat Jockey – Frankie Detori…. has nothing left to prove, but keeps doing it anyway
Jumps Jockey – Bryony Frost…… a breath of fresh air, and as good a judge of pace and front
running that I’ve seen.
Flat Trainer – John Gosden …… How a trainer should beJumps Trainer – Dan Skelton …… Has had a great year
Hero – Bryan Cooper…. whose quick thinking and actions, having just fallen from his own horse,
potentially saved Robbie Power from serious injury at Gowran ParkRiding Performance …..Bryony Frost on Milansbar in the Betfred Classic at Warick, a great front
running performance on a horse that has been known to sulk and had been
pulled up in 3 and UR in 1 of it’s previous 6 races. It was a toss up between
that one and her performance on Frodon in the Old Roan Chase.Broadcaster- Ed Chamberlin…He’s had a bit of flack, but in general I think he’s done a decent
job of keeping it together on ITVOne to Watch in 2019 -Great Field…. He’s had his problems, but when he’s clear of them I think
he could be the next big thing over the jumps.Racecourse – Cheltenham…….Sorry to be boring, but it’s just the best.
Journalist – Chris McGrath…..I think, just nicks it
Villain – Parliamentary Group looking into FOBTs…..For accepting funding from those with a vested
interestOwner – Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha…… Will be greatly missed.
Commentator – Simon Holt…..I think that should be a walkover.
