    Villains of the year
The evil low life’s who set fire to the stable of Hettie (Jumireya) and her son Impossible Dream who perished. :-(
Villian is too kind a word for those that were behind this act of cruelty.

Will put up some more later Nathan as would not put another person on the same post as this nomination…Jac

If people can provide a link when nominating ‘thread of the year’ it would be grateful
Don’t worry about the linking the Frankel thread Jac, I’ll find that one easy enough as Joni bumps it up on the hour every hour…… :rose:

Riding performance for me has to be Harry Teal on Howaboutnever at Worcester on 18th July, it was just an outstanding display of determination from the chap who just edges out Tommy Dawson on Captain Sharpe at Hexham in my book.

    Riding performance:

    – Derek Fox on One For Arthur in the National.

    – The young lad Bowen on Thomas Campbell last time out.

    Both superb rides

Thread of the year.. I’ll throw the 10 to Follow comp VTC runs in there.

Poster of the Year – Obviously Venture To Cognac is the NAP for all he does behind the scenes, the seemingly endless stream of big-priced winners and the kind words for everyone.

Flat Horse of the Year – Take Cover

Jumps Horse – Go West Young Man

    Flat Jockey – Danny Tudhope

Jumps Jockey – Jamie Bargary, Harry Cobden, Danny Cook

Flat Trainer – Paul Midgley, Andrew Balding, Charlie Appleby, Keith Dalgleish, Eve Johnson Houghton

Jumps Trainer – Paul Henderson, Fergal O’Brien, Ian Williams

    Hero – Stalls handlers

Riding Performance – Willy Twiston-Davies on Cogry on New Year’s Day. Sublime.

Broadcaster – Maddy P, Rachel Candelora

One To Watch – Maddy P, Nicola Currie, Lulu Stanford, Harrison Beswick, Donal McInerney

Racecourse – Ludlow – great quality race and good price money, stiffened fences a good move this season too

    Journalist – Nancy Sexton

Villain – Affiliate scumbags (e.g GetYourTipsOut, MyRacingTips), Tom Kerr (destructive anti-racing articles), Tony Calvin (generally detestable behaviour on Twitter/RUK), John Ferguson (disgraceful treatment of Saeed bin Suroor), ‘JusticeForPunters’ (hysterical counterproductiveness), Mark Johnston (opposition to EVERY new initiative in racing), Musselburgh Racecourse (ongoing surface problems, financial mismanagement)

    Owner – John Neild

Commentator – Richard Hoiles, Gareth Topham

Poster of the Year: Jonibake – knows the subject inside out and profitable tipster, yet doesn’t get on your nerves like some. And Steeplechasing – Knows his stuff and not afraid to take me on.
Thread of the year Joni’s Poni’s – season 6 – Another profitable season.
Flat Horse Battaash – Best European sprinter for a decade.
Jumps Horse Established horses disappointed me, so Altior and Thistlecrack – outstanding novices
Flat Jockey The under-rated Champion – Sylvestre De Sousa.
Jumps Jockey Richard Johnson – Ruby and Barry don’t seem the force of old.
Flat Trainer Aidan O’Brien – Brilliant Group 1 World Record despite not having an outstanding racehorse.
Jumps Trainer Colin Tizzard and Nigel Twiston Davies – One maintained his rise after a breakthrough year, the other looked just behind the top bracket and has surprised me this year with some great training feats.
Hero The lads and lasses who make this game work
    Riding Performance
    Broadcaster
One to Watch in 2018 James Bowen – simply the best 7 lbs (now 5) conditional I’ve seen since AP McCoy.
    Racecourse
    Journalist
    Villain
Owner Coolmore – won an amazing number of Group 1’s especially with fillies.

I’ve had some more time to think now.

Jumps trainer: Nicky Henderson for handling his Arkle, RSA and Champion Hurdle winners so well.

Flat trainer: John Gosden; I’m surprised he hasn’t been mentioned yet.

Jumps horse: Buveur D’air for being the class act at the top of the hurdling tree.

Flat horse: Highland Reel for being the globetrotters of all globetrotters and adding a Royal Ascot victory over 10 furlongs to his ‘turn up and win’ effort at Epsom.

Flat jockey: Ryan Moore for so many quality rides including but not limited to Gustav Klimt at Newmarket and Declarationofpeace at Del Mar.

One to watch 2018: Amedeo Modigliani because he’s going to win the Derby.

Racecourse: Sandown as it’s still the best viewing track in the country.

Commentator: Stewart Machin for being reliable and informative.

Owner: Tony Bloom for victories at the Cheltenham Festival to the Cesarewitch and being such a likeable chap in between.

I see Greece have voted for Cyprus again. Will Cyprus vote for Greece?

You could cut the tension with a knife.

Venture To Cognac will deservedly win again this year, so there is little point in having the Poster Of The Year. He’s done a Brazil and owns the trophy, so well done for winning again this year Bobby.

I give the nod to Stilvi this year for sitting outwith the comfortable “Clique” and speaking his mind when it’s all too chummy and bland at times.

Like someone else, I didn’t feel there was an outstanding thread this year. Perhaps reflected by nominations for an older thread. The Betfair 2017 thread will however go down as the “Nostradamus Reincarnate” thread, or “Comedy Gold All Time” thread depending on which way it goes.

I hope Saxon Warrior is the one to watch next year. I feel he can win the Guineas and deny the “Not fast enough” brigade. There is a shed load of chaff in the field for the race.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

    Jumps trainer – Henderson

    Flat trainer – Jonny G

Villain – The people who decided the Breeders Cup should be held at Del Mar.

Owner – Alan and Ann Potts

One to watch 2018 – September because she’s the Oaks winner..

    Jumps horse – Altior

Flat horse – Big Orange deserves a mention

As a relatively new poster (a year), I’ve not noticed a ‘clique’ to be honest.

Anyone know where Zarkava is by the way? Has he left?
