Below is trainer form going into Festival week , a couple jump out as not exactly setting the heather on fire

    Last 14 days winners

    Henry De Bromhead 2 from 18 11%
    Willie Mullins 13 from 29 45%
    Gordon Elliott 9 from 41 22%
    Paul Nicholls 11 from 39 28%
    Nicky Henderson 2 from 13 15%
    Dan Skelton 7 from 34 21%

Henderson at least had some winners yesterday , De Bromhead form has to be a worry surely , he,s actually ran more horses than Mullins this season ( 592 to 576 but he,s had 88 winners to Willie 164 ) , is there any trainers that people think we should be following this festival , I reckon Skelton will have a good festival

Recent trainer form is hard to quantify as a meaningful stat as their best ones are being saved for the Festival. And the HDB dodgy form in the Winter was well documented, however horses going into the Festival like Honeysuckle, Bob Olinger, Journey With Me, Shantreusse were still winning.

One of the reasons why I believe A Plus Tard will reverse Leopardstown form with Galvin is because Henry’s horses were running like drains at the time.

Glad he didn’t scope badly after the race and he was fit from Haydock where he hosed up , surely the stats shows his horses have been so so all season , if Mullins was sitting at 11% we def would be hearing about it , he had a purple year last year but outwith Honeysuckle I don’t see happening this year , I’ll be surprised if APT can reverse form over longer , beaten by a better stayer last year ….Galvin is a better stayer

HDLG- much will depend on the weather during the week, but it’s normally pretty quick by the Friday and I can’t see it turning into a slog. As long as Rachael holds onto him a bit longer than in the Savills, I think A Plus Tard will reverse the form; whether or not that’s good enough to win the race is a different matter.

Galvin quicker than you think , than run behind Frodon proofed that , APT will be a nice point to aim at up the hill

Yet he couldn’t get past Frodon that day. 🤷‍♂️

Galvin wouldn’t have APT to aim at if Rachael took my advice: hold on until the last possible moment and lead in the shadow of the post. That’s the way to ride him.

The Post has its own article on trainer form this morning:

I find it slightly perplexing that they focus purely on winners, where their own RTF (running to form) figures are far more interesting.
