Brass monkey weather greeted about 5000 hardy souls..a load of them small children …for the big opening night
Great racing …superb track …bends extra wide , I saw 10 races including 2 8 dog races …not a single melee at any bend
well done Towcester , admission free , parking free, losing bets as always free

The only downside …Matt Chapman was MC ….god I wanted to be sick ….is there any escaping this …..!!!
Lets hope this track thrives , Greyhound racing used to have 75 tracks 40 years ago ,,,now there are 24
Good luck to them ….heartily recommended to any TRF folks in the vicinity
December 7, 2014 at 18:41 #497807Agree it was a cold night but what a great atmosphere. Track first class. Viewing very good. Don’t know anything about dog racing, just the horses, but could get hooked. The whole set-up is very professional…and to be fair I thought Matt Chapman added to the excitement. Good luck to the course…but just be sure that the horse racing isn’t forgotten.
December 8, 2014 at 11:29 #497874Sounds good. I’m going next week (for horse racing) so will have a gander around.
I noticed that a couple of weeks ago Towcester announced that they had been awarded a plum BAGS contract for their Friday night/Saturday night meetings. Realistically, I’m presuming this must have been pretty much promised to them before the project had started.
The one sadness of course is that the course will host just 10 horse racing meetings in 2015.

December 8, 2014 at 11:39 #497876I wondered why Chapman was championing this in the Sun on Saturday (rather have Francome). Hope all goes well with this project and racing continues at the course even if on a reduced basis.
December 9, 2014 at 09:37 #497941Well, they’re certainly giving it the beans on launch: two hours of racing from Towcester live on Sky Sports 3 this Saturday evening.
