Wonderful. I’m super impressed with that. I’d have been happy as a pig in proverbial if I had that setup now, nevermind as a child!
What are the fences made of? I used to race my matchbox cars (all named after horses I’d seen on the telly) over green painted strips of loft insulation that my dad fashioned into National fences.
March 24, 2025 at 10:28 #1724750The fences are car wash sponges ! The horses are laser cut 3mm mdf board and the original board was a tablecloth but it wasn’t big enough so I made a new one from four sheets of A0 double thickness corrugated cardboard. There are 81 horses in total. The course has a couple of poetic licence adjustments so the width remains the same and I kept Bechers at 90 degrees to the track to keep it simpler
My favourite horses - Red Rum, Spanish Steps, Proud Tarquin, Esban, Go-Pontinental, Barona, Charles Dickens, The Dikler, Astbury, Black Secret, Vulgan Town, Huperade, Well To Do, Crisp, Quintus, Argent, Colebridge, Pearl Of Montreal, Nereo, Sonny Somers, Tubs VI, Tartan Ace, Red Candle, L'Escargot, Bula, Beau Bob, Rouge Autumn, Rough Silk, Frodo, Deblin's Green, Prince Tino, Eyecatcher, The Pilgarlic, Captain Christy, Mr Midland, Interview II, Credit Call, My Virginian, Flush Of Diamonds, Scout, Money Ma

I look forward to seeing your book one day, which I’m confident will be the complete authority on the subject.
