Is this the day Exotic Dancer finally beats Kauto Star?
I have to admit I’m quite strong on Exotic Dancers chances tomorrow. He ran at Cheltenham after a long lay off and he always runs better after a run. His performance in this race last year was arguably as good a performance as he’s ever produced and he looks certain to run very well.
Kauto Star is still the best three miler (maybe not extended trips) in training but the one thing that keeps pestering me is that he had a really hard race at Cheltenham. He was off the bridle way out and sheer guts enabled him to hold on for second place. That was a really tough and gruelling race for him and I’m not certain he will have recovered sufficiently yet to be 100% for this race. I actually think he had as hard a race as anything at Cheltenham.
Our Vic was born again at Cheltenham in his blinkers and Aintree is a sharp track so the trip just might be gettable. However it needs both ED and KS to run at least half a stone below their best for Our Vic to beat them even if he gets every yard of the trip.
I don’t think Monets Garden will be quite good enough to challenge the top two if they run near to form. He loves Aintree and his best form is at lesser trips. He might, just might get home but I’d still be expecting something to beat him.
Gungadu is an admirable horse but not good enough.
I really do think this could be Exotic Dancer’s turn.
