Week 16 update (for the 2nd time believe it or not)

Yes, I did indeed do this summary earlier, fell asleep
and restarted the laptop without saving any of it. Fortunately
the gist of the week was that, understanably, nobody scored
anything it being the week before Cheltenham.

I did have a run through of the start of the week and it was
most amusing to the extent that even Chezza would have approved.
Here is the whittled down less amusing 2nd take.

The Mullins/De Bromhead/Elliot cartel have got a hold of the opener,
the Supreme Novices Hurdle, by the short and curlies according to
the bookies. I can’t agree and I don’t know why Jeriko Du Reponet
got such a bad press after his latest run at Doncaster. He beat
2 horses (going away at the end) the 2nd who won a Grade 2 next time
out with the 3rd being the runner-up. Mystical Power aside, he’s the
only unbeaten horse in the race. 8/1? That’ll do for me.

The Arkle is a toughie, but I think Quilixios has the class to pull
    this off. So that’s that.

The Ultima. When are they going to realise that Highland Hunter is not
an 11 year old has-been. He might not win, but at 50/1 I reckon you’ll
get a run for your money and if he were to get into the Grand national (unlikely)
he would be the perfect type. Yes, I’ve got his photo on my bedside cabinet

Champion Hurdle- Tie State Man’s back legs together and you’ll reduce how far
he wins by about 10 lengths. Could a 12 year old win this race? in short, no.
However Not So Sleepy is a freak of nature and with 8 in the race I think 40/1
is massively over priced and a better bet E/W than State Man.

In the Mares’ Hurdle Willie has the odds on shot again with Lossiemouth. She
looks terrific and has a real kick at the end of a race, and that’s why I think
that the extra 3 furlongs that she’s never been might blunt that finishing speed.
Marie’s Rock, with the ground conditions and the fact she can do 3m will be a huge
asset in a race that should be run at a good pace. She’s 16/1 and my mate Jac thinks
she’s the bees knees, so that will do for me :good:

Boodles Juvenile Handicap – I reckon this is the toughest card of the day. If you fancy
something, you’ve got as good a chance as the next man, or woman. I’ve watched them all
and although it was in a lesser league than this I was impressed by Latin Verse. It seems
I’m not alone as he’s been hammered down from 20s. The best on offer at the moment is 14/1
with Bet365, so I’ve had some of that.

The getting out stakes, or lucky last depending on your view happens to be my favorite race
of the day, not least because I’ve got Apple Away at 25/1 (as mentioned in Neil’s Cheltenham Compy).
She’s 8/1 which I still think is good value now that they are down to 7 runners.

So that’s the 1st day done, it’s as simple as that (hopefully).

Enjoy the first day, and hopefully maybe we might catch one or two. And most of all,
no empty horseboxes going back to the stable.

No change in the league but I’ll copy it out anyway. Good luck this week :good:

Just looked and somehow I am 12th out of the 3000+ free stable entries

Even with shiskin throwing away the king george and el fabiolo the champion chase (though I imagine that was irrelevant as everyone will have picked him)

Teahupoo and vega win tomorrow I may even break the top 10

    I’m getting a nose bleed

That is some going FF, very best of luck mate I’d love to see you pull
it off, you’d be a TRF Legend :yahoo:

I also just looked at the paid list

Somebody called Henry Potter entered 650+ times

No idea how many he actually did that was the highest number I could see on his teams near the top

Let’s hope he doesn’t win the psycho

Had shiskin not slipped in the King george I do believe I’d be top of the free one as that would’ve been 50+ points and I’m 48 behind. Perhaps best he didn’t to avoid the inevitable dissapointment. Though I’m not sure if you even win anything in the free one.

Could get interesting though if jonbon and shiskin win at Aintree can’t imagine too many above me have both of them.

Unfortunately that’s what you’re up against FF. Individuals,
or conglomerates with wads of cash that buy big into the competition
with permetations of the best horses, and some they have got wind
of on the sly. Sitting at 13 right now is outstanding for a single
entry. You’re less than 50 points behind the Free Stable entries
leader and still in there with a shout.

    Very best of luck :good:

It does seem unless you are willing to put down 200 entries there’s probably not much point in paying to have a go

Happy to just stick with the free one for a bit of fun

    Hello to everyone

With reference to FinalFurlong91. This is not something
that is new it goes back more years than I care to remember.

The old Tote in the 1990’s started the option to have more
than one entry and in those days there was not the option
of a Free League. I agree that for most of us it is a bit
of fun to use your words.

What will be interesting is what happens if there is a Flat competition
this season, in terms of the number of entries.
The present jumping season attracted a much smaller number of entries
    than before.

before, and the Flat was always for various reasons less attractive than the
    jumpers.

All the best for the future :good: :bye:

than the jumpers for various reasons.

    Week 17 and 18

Apologies for this being a 2 weeker. Not been the best fortnight for me
including a hospital stay I could have done without. Anyway, here we are,
Cheltenham has come and gone and the league has been more than a little
    disrupted.

FF91 has built a fabulous stable, enabling him to jump to the head of the
queue in the TRF league with 6 winners at Cheltenham, and also risen to 13th
overall in the Free League. Superb stuff FF. His super 6 were Galopin Des
Champs, State Man, Fact To File, Teahupoo and Ballyburn. A tally of 756.70
was enough to jump to top spot. Great Cheltenham FF, I hope you made a killing :yahoo:

Madison Wonderland hit a 5 timer at Cheltenham and jumps 2 places to 2nd
has the leader clearly in his sites with Galopin Des Champs, State Man,
Gaelic Warrior, Fact To File and Teahupoo all bringing MW a total of 728.78
points. Less than 30 points behind and with Aintree yet to come it’s going
to be tight at the top.

I would have put money on it that twice previous winner Man Superstars would
make a late run, and he’s done just that with the biggest move in the top 10,
from 10th to 3rd spot with 330 points over the Festival. He knows how to win
this and he’s riding on the crest of a wave up to 715.15 points. I expected
no less from you MS, terrific Festival with Galopin Des Champs, State Man,
Fact To File, Teahupoo, Protectorat (I hope you were on that one at 17/2)
and an additional 14.10 points for Gerri Columbe’s brave run in the Gold
Cup. Any idea where he is going next MS, I would have thought they might
have a tilt at the National. He certainly wasn’t stopping going up the
hill over 3m 2 1/2f at Cheltenham. Top mover and top scorer of the week :yahoo:

Jas’s Jumpers picked off a couple when taking 4th spot with a nap hand
of GDC, State Man, Gaelic Warrior, Fact To File and Ballyburn. Jas
also had the runner-up in the Gold Cup Gerri Columbe for a total of
697.20 points. Hope you had those 5 in an acc Jas, that would have
been a nice return. Well done.

Moley Racing drops down a couple of places without doing a lot wrong.
GDC, State Man, Gaelic Warrior and Fact To File would normally be a
pretty decent score bar some guys hitting the jackpot. Definitely
not out of it MR, only 30 points off the podium with a few weeks to go.

When I last posted before Cheltenham, Red Jumpers was leading the charge,
and although RJ had a very decent run with GDC, State Man, Ballyburn and
Lossiemouth they couldn’t keep the pack at bay and slid to 6th place. A
total of 654.83 points nevertheless does keep them in the hunt. Best of
    luck RJ.

Goodfellow jumps 2 to 7th spot with Cheltenham winners GDC, State Man,
Gaelic Warrior and Protektrat for a total of 652.36 I’m not seeing many
Grand National horses so far in the leaders, could give someone an outside
chance. About 100 points behind the leader Goodfellow, I reckon you’ll
have to hit a couple of big ones to get up there. It’s a very decent
stable you have (I wish I had it) Best of luck

Edantony, despite having 3 winners, GDC, State Man and Teahupoo as winners
and Gerri Colimbe (2nd) at the Festival drops 3 places to 8th with a total
    of 636.62 points.

Sultans Of Swing certainly had a good Cheltenham. The Sultans were another
with a nap hand of winners, GDC, State Man, Fact To File, Teahupoo and
Protektorat. Another late charge from 15th to 9th with a total of 624.96
points. Welcome to the top 10 Sultans.

The final top 10 place goes to Gaelic Warrior Bread, who sits on 608.03
points. I’ve just clocked that GWB has made an incredible run from 21st
to 10th spot. He gets there with no less than a 6 Timer :yahoo:
GDC, State Man, Gaelic Warrior, Fact To File, Ballyburn and Lossiemouth.
That little lot was worth just over 300 points. Great Cheltenham GWB, you
must have skinned the bookies with that lot. Extremely well done.

Well that’s the top 10, I suspect the winner may come from there, but as
they say it’s never over till the lady of rotund proprtions sings.

I’m quite glad I’ve got Delta Work, who I bet last year in the National,
he was travelling quite nicely until Keith Donaghue came over the 21st
just about up with the leaders when he jumped but got bumped by a horse
on his left knocking him into the horse on his right and Keith Donoghue
departed. I reckon at at 33/1 he has as good a chace as anything.

This Saturday the horse I’ve waited for is Onesmoothoperator. He’s
down for 2 races on Saturday but the 1m2f is way too short for him.
I reckon he has to go for the All Weather Championships Marathon
H’cap over 2m at Newcastle. I thnk he’s been screaming out for 2m.
He’s 14/1 accross the boards which I reckon is fairly decent. I’ve
taken that but I’ll keep a check on the markets.

So that’s your lot and best wishes if you have a punt this weekend,
I don’t think the stables will change at all.

Just to clear up a little mistake I made when I mentioned Onesmoothoperator.
I said he was running on Saturday, he is in fact running today (Friday).
Also, it shows what I know, he’s entered in the 1m2f race at 4.10 at
Newcastle. I must admit I’m baffled why he’s gone for this race instead
of the 2m race ealier in the day. My antipost bet is shot to pieces and
I can’t not have go with him as I’d feel an idiot if he wins and I haven’t
had a punt. I’m not as confident in the race he runs in, I think he’ll
be running on well at the finish, but they might just get away from him.
I’ve grabbed the 33/1 e/w with Bet365 which is still available as I write
this. It’s a funny old game

    Week 19 Update

No change with The leaders, in fact you have to go to number 30
in the league for the one and only scorer of the week

It’s well done to The Maple Stirrups who picked a very interesting
novice in the shape of Mirazur West who took it up after the 2nd last
at Fairyhouse last wednesday and there was only going to be one winner
after that. It’s a McManus horse that’s very much worth keeping an eye
on. Still 30th, but you’ve copped the lot this week TMS, only winner and
top marks, 24.20 points. Giving you a boost to 196.64. Excellent stuff :good:

As for the week ahead, I think it’s going to be a case of stand by your
beds as I dont forsee any moves this weekend. Kelso is a cracking wee course
with a decent enough few races, their big race is the is the £51,000 to the
winner mares’ Novices H’cap Hurdle. it doesn’t get more exciting than that.
Goon luck anyway if you are having a punt.

Just a reminder that tomorrow is the final furlong. We will
know the winner after racing at Aintree finishes.

With one day to go, it’s that man I warned you about that’s
taken the lead. Yes it’s Man Superstars, double previous winner
going for the hat-trick after a great start at Aintree with
Gerri Columbe and Impaire Et Passe.

FF91 with a blank week so far has to sit on MS’s shoulder.

Jas’s Jumpers takes 3rd place with Gerri Columbe.

It’s just a mini who’s at the top, we’ll just need to sit tight
and see where the money goes tomorrow.

Well the witching hour has come and gone so I can noww officially name
the winner and runner up of the competition (albeit I could have done
after the Aintree) but rules is rules.

What can I say, and I did warn you Mike (Man Superstars) has gone for the
hat-trick and stuck the third one into the roof of the net. Superb effort Mike,
you know how to put together a winning stable. Well won mate :yahoo:

FF91 (Final Furlong91) You were the fav right up until Mike pulled the rug
from under your feet at the 11th hour. Brillient run though and congratulations
    on the runner-up spot :good:

So many good stables this year and the lead changed many times as I expected it
would. Well that’s the jumps gone this year, they seem to come round so much
    quicker now

If Mike you can contact me on PM with you Account name, account number and
sort code, I’ll get your well won 50 quid to you.

Final Furlong91, if you can do the same and I’ll ensure that John Gooch’s
award of 25 quid will be heading your way.

Many thanks to all who took part, it won’t be long until the flat version rears
it’s not so ugly head. Thanks all for playing. Here are the final scores as per
