The first race at Bangor tomorrow is one of the best early season novice chases I have seen for a long time. Wymott, Alfie Sherrin and Tarablaze are all highly rated by connections, and are all quoted in the betting for the novice championship races at the Festival.
I can hardly wait, lets hope that they all get round okay.November 9, 2010 at 23:54 #327230AnonymousInactive- Total Posts 17716
Tarablaze has been off for a while and Donald McCain’s horses are improving massively for a run (Russinrudi might be a sizeable animal, but he looked so fat yesterday it was untrue). I’d be surprised if either was up to winning tomorrow; the main aim will surely be to just get them around.
The same is perhaps true of Alfie Sherrin. We’ve all seen how Jonjo has been running some of his horses recently and the one time this horse encountered soft ground he was absolutely annihilated. He’s bred to handle it, but does he?
Silver Kate holds some appeal for me. She goes well fresh, stays all day, will love conditions and gets a handy allowance.
But as you say, an intriguing and potentially high class contest.
November 10, 2010 at 00:21 #327233Good looking race on paper. Wymott I’d expect to be the best of this bunch in time. Good open to the card and will watch with intrigue
November 10, 2010 at 07:16 #327253IT most certainly is a fine race. The first three are all crackers. I am thinking of having the afternoon off and going racing.
November 10, 2010 at 12:18 #327296I still thought that Mccain trained oop north, and only realised that he trained in the Bangor area yesterday. His horses
seem to do rather well at the track; do you think he schools them there at all?

…if not before! Splendid first go over the bigger obstacles, and already a very tidy afternoon for McCain two races in.

He trains at Cholmondoley in Cheshire – to some of us that is the north
November 10, 2010 at 19:26 #327375Geography never was my strong point! Southport was oop north; Bangor way, to me, is left a bit…..[or is it right]
December 12, 2010 at 20:43 #332359Donald is quite happy being described as a Northern trainer. Bangor is his local track and he trains at Cholmondeley (South Cheshire)about 12 miles away but does not school his horses at Bangor.
December 12, 2010 at 22:38 #332377He does sometimes school at Bangor after racing.
Peddlers Cross & Tarablaze both schooled there a few weeks ago. -
