At the end of week 1 of the pre-season campaign several players have set their stall out in no uncertain fashion and, already, a few of the contestants look booked for a place in the elite Premiership.
Grey Desire and Johnny B both tipped a 20/1 winner while Manugirl, Aldebrook and Roland all went for 16/1 winner Admiral. Letsgetracing also made a great start with a pair of 7/1 winners.
Still plenty to play for over the final two weeks of the pre-season training camp however with only one good winner separating most of the competitors from a place in the top league.
Outlined below are current standings, with the League line-ups as they currently stand at the minute. Note that those players from Adrian downwards are players who registered for the competition but didn’t make any selections yesterday. They will be able to continue to play but, as with any other players in the future, failure to post selections will result in that player being credited with five unsuccessful selections.

October 15, 2005 at 22:12 #82142Although Week 2 of the Tipping Premiership saw a couple of 20/1 winners for Racing Daily (Cover Up) and Alderbrook (Le Vie Dei Colori) competitors generally found the going tough with Sir Percy (9/2) coming to the rescue of one or two people.
Things are taking shape with 24 players now having selected a winner and placed themselves on the leaderboard. The players currently in the top 7 ‘pre-season’ places look booked for the Premiership but there is still plenty opportunity for those without a winner to get into the top league and remember, of course, that the pre-season results count for nothing once the real thing gets under way the week after next.
At the bottom of the table it looks like there will be a real scramble for the final few places with some well known forumites struggling a little to avoid a season in the Conference!
Note that in the event of a tie there will be a play-off between the competitors in the week prior to the start of the Leagues proper.
So – the standings after week 2

October 16, 2005 at 11:27 #82144Yes DB – unlucky with a 20/1 winner first reserve!
October 16, 2005 at 11:56 #82145I may be completely wrong here, but shouldn’t my score be somewhere around – 5.5. I made no selections in the first week, but did manage to stumble across Sir Percy this time.
If I’ve misunderstood the way this is calculated, apologies.

October 17, 2005 at 20:29 #82146Sorry Aranalde, I’ve corrected it, you are on -4.5.<br>
October 19, 2005 at 10:45 #82147I fear being bannished to the Sunday morning ametuer league at this rate!!
October 22, 2005 at 19:21 #82148Sorry to confirm your worst fears Daylight. It’s the Ryman League for you!!
In a frantic last pre-season weekend there were winners aplenty with 25 of the 39 competitors finding at least one winner.
The biggest priced winner was the 8/1 shot Khyber Kim, selected by both Corma67 and Letsgetracing. Lots of people selected more than one winner with Bob Rolf, The Wizard and myself all managing trebles.
So, after all the frenetic activity we finally have the final league line ups for the competition proper which gets under way next week.
First a word of commiseration for those who failed to make it into the league. Some well known names and competition regulars failed to qualify but I’m sure they’ll be back next season when we’ll be running a special competition designed to identify the two players who’ll be invited to join the league to replace the bottom two in League 1 at the end of this season. Thanks for supporting the competition folks and bad luck.
Here, then, in order of the scores they compiled during the pre-season, are the players who will be competing against each other over the next nine weeks to decide not only the Premiership Champion and TRF Champion tipster but also the Divisional Championships and promotion/relegation issues. With great prizes in all three divisions courtesy of our sponsor intherefirst.com, competition is sure to be fierce.
