Does anyone know why he is not riding Mous of Men for D.Johnson on Sunday when he rides in the race before for his in laws.
I apologise if it has been reported that there has been a split with DJ or DP but have been away and not been following what has been going on.May 28, 2010 at 21:56 #297351Agreed it does seem rather surprising he isn’t riding, there’s always rumours about a break-up between the jockey and owner but none of yet come true.
June 1, 2010 at 18:08 #298043According to the Pipe website, Scu jnr got the ride as he’d done all the schooling.
Horse looked novicey enough and Scudamore probably did well to win
Whether that is indicative of a wider split between Murphy, the Pipes or Johnson, who knows?
June 1, 2010 at 18:31 #2980472+2 =5, no split, no big story, just accept it this time.
June 4, 2010 at 20:29 #298664There are more Johnson runners this weekend without T.J.Murphy on board.
I sense that although nothing reported in the press the end is nigh for this relationship.June 5, 2010 at 17:57 #298829I agree it does look like the beginning of the end. Sad for Timmy as I think that he is absolutely top class. I think that Mr Johnson may be scaling back his operations in the recession. There was a Johnson runner at Cartmel last week and Timmy never rode it even though he was there
September 1, 2010 at 10:09 #315343I am new here. Please forgive me if the question has already been tackled somewhere else – does anybody know when Timmy Murphy gets back and if he will still ride for David Johnson?
September 1, 2010 at 11:22 #315356Welcome to the forum anja, the national hunt season doesn’t really get going for serious until the middle of October so I would until then to find out if Timmy continues to ride for David Johnson.
I will be surprised if he’s not riding for him at the big meetings at Cheltenham, Sandown etc.
September 1, 2010 at 11:34 #315358In case anyone missed it, he wasn’t on board Openditch for Mr Johnson at Newton Abbot yesterday.

September 1, 2010 at 11:36 #315359TM rode for Kim Bailey this morning according to the trainers blog….
September 1, 2010 at 13:14 #315372Timmy is currently injured and is expected to return sometime around October/November.
That was the answer I had from David Pipe today in regards to a mail I sent him yesterday. Does the Racing Post never follow up the progress of injured jockeys?
September 1, 2010 at 14:10 #315381It does in the case of Robert Thornton, who was featured at length in the last couple of days or so.

September 1, 2010 at 19:25 #315470all horses owned by david johnson trained by either david pipe or paul nicholls will be timmy murphys first option.
horses trained at other yards will be their trainers preferences.
September 1, 2010 at 19:58 #315477Thanks for the info Barry, as Timmy is my favourite jockey.
Do you mind me asking where you got the info ?September 1, 2010 at 20:12 #315482Timmy Murphy is having a hip operation. I also understand there are insurance issues over riding during the summer on fast ground.
