In this grade two fillies handicap there seems to be no declared runners?
With the constant carping about prize money surely some enterprising connections would have entered hoping to pick up decent money in a poorly contested race?
Such races should be a boom for the smaller trainer while the big names sun themselves in other parts of the world.
good luck to allDecember 20, 2022 at 12:41 #1627531It’s a Class 2 Handicap, isn’t it?
I didn’t see the initial entries, but how many rated high enough to run in a race like that would still be in training the week before Christmas?
Either you’re going to have a winter race programme for quality horses or you’re not – the odd one is no use.
Better to just decide it’s Class 4, 5 and 6 fayre all winter long in my view.

December 20, 2022 at 17:45 #1627565Thank you gentlemen and sorry for describing it as grade 2 rather than class 2.
In answer to your question Ian.
The usual horses you find are ones which had an interrupted season with connections looking for money to carry them through to next year and others who’s handicap marks have risen to make them uncompetitive in such races on the turf. While a few just a few trainers use the less competitive environment to build the horses confidence with eyes on bigger and better to come.
