I don’t think either of them did anything wrong. I just said I thought it was amusing to watch.
August 22, 2009 at 01:33 #245221Spencer should be a bit more even handed – win or lose. When he was trotting up in the Irish Oaks on Sariska he seemed to be gloating and disrespectful to the other horses, jockeys and their connections by his hand and head gestures as he neared the winning post.
Also, I believe jockeys receive a small fee (£50) from C4 for their post race interviews. Even Ryan Moore!August 22, 2009 at 17:19 #245286This reminded me of the Thommo interview with Ruby Walsh after the Gold Cup 2008. Absolutely hilarious, but at the same time, if you ask a stupid question you get a stupid answer.
Derek Thompson and Rishee from BBC are in a league of their own.

August 22, 2009 at 22:40 #245307When a hot favourite loses a race like that the betting public have lost a lot of money and have a right to know what happened. I don’t know much about journalism but I bet you find out more by interviewing someone straight after the race than you do 15 minutes later. Choc Thornton seems to give a lot more interviews than he used to and I thought he’d started giving post race interviews as well, but it could be my memory playing tricks with me. What I did find amusing was watching Emma Spencer interviewing the winning jockey [not sure if it was Sariska’s race or another] when it was Jamie that was expected to win. Must have been difficult congratulating the winning jockey and smiling.
