Double Double has to be backed at 4/5 in the bumper. His fomr behind Divine Rhapsody is high class and the booking of Nina Carberry will do him no harm either.

    €20 win @ 4/5

I expect Quito De La Roque to shorten up for the Gold Cup after tomorrow, so I’ve taken the 25/1 with Ladbrokes.

A good day today, with Quito showing tremendous courage and Silviniaco Conti making his price look like Christmas come early.

Had considered a tenner double alright, but I just wasn’t that confident regarding Quito De La Roque. Colm Murphy sounded worried, and while by process of elimination he was the only one left, it was still a good race. One thing you preach is to stay loyal to one you think is a good’un, and it’s fair to say this lad has paid the expenses of a few bad calls!

Think he’s good enough for Cheltenham?

Somewhat missed bigger prices on these two but I’m confident they’ll shorten further come the weekend. NOBLE PRINCE should take all the beating if he runs in the Paddy Power, and the signs are he will. He’s receiving weight from Wishful Thinking, who he quite comprehensively beat in the Jewson at Cheltenham. His form ties in closely with Realt Dubh, who I think is a future Ryanair winner, and I see no reason how Wishful Thinking can reverse the form. I backed Wishful Thinking that day, but Noble Prince just had too many gears for him. Wouldn’t be surprised if McCoy is up again.

The other horse I’m backing is MOON DICE in the Greatwood. Missed the 12/1 available a few days ago but the confidence behind this animal is sizable. This has the feeling of a gamble that will buy half of south Kilkenny new cars. This has been the plan since the Galway Hurdle and I’d say he’s still ahead of the handicapper. Hopefully the underrated Tom Doyle will be in the saddle and he should make them all go.

Paddy Power Handicap Chase NOBLE PRINCE €10 e/w @ 10/1 (Ladbrokes)
Greatwood Handicap Hurdle MOON DICE €10 e/w @ 8/1 (Ladbrokes)
    NOBLE PRINCE & MOON DICE €5 e/w double @ 10/1 + 8/1

A good day at the office today with both Uncle Junior and Steps To Freedom winning by narrow margins. Uncle Junior may have found his niche I think. He’s never jumped that fluently over fences and he was very good (Aintree fence apart) over his obstacles today. He even traveled quite well too, if Willie Mullins decides to run him in this division on a regular basis, I think he could dominate.

    + €81.06

On tomorrow’s card Chicago Grey looks the standout bet. He looked like he was going to win easily before coming to grief on his previous visit to Cheltenham and I can’t see him being out of the frame tomorrow.

I’ve also backed Loosen My Load in the Paddy Power. I’m disappointed that Noble Prince is a NR obviously, think Paul Nolan has missed a trick here. Loosen My Load was behind him at Cheltenham in March and has to reverse the form with Wishful Thinking too. He’s in receipt of a lot of weight and I can see him up with the pace and being let go turning for home. He travels beautifully in his races and tomorrow could well be his big day.

    Chicago Grey €20 e/w @ 11/2
    Loosen My Load €10 e/w @ 16/1
    €2.50 e/w double @ 11/2 + 16/1

Thanks Venture, to be honest I thought there would be plenty of support for Chicago Grey this morning, yet he seems weak enough. Loosen My Load also quite weak in the market. :?

I think Saludos has a lively chance fo overturning Quel Esprit at Naas today. He has the benefit of a run and has got his ground. He wasn’t far off the best of the Irish novice 2 mile chasers last year and Quel Esprit will need to be on the ball to beat him.

    €10 win SALUDOS @ 2/1 Naas 12.50

    + €1.06
