A good afternoon to everyone, as always to my fellow Golfing Compadres, PETE, MIKE and CRIZZY.

Well having come up just short last week but still managed a small profit thanks in main to Mr Jacquelins exploits, although as with the previous week someone had a leader going into the last round, so bookies a price to be leading after the 3rd Round please .

Enough of that, so i will move on to this weeks fare, as usual some interest in everything for yours truly, just the Five Tournaments with which to sift through again :) , so without further ado here we go.

Will start with the Vodacom Championship, which is on the Sunshine Tour, my thanks again to Pete for helping me with last weeks African Open although i’m afraid it did not yield a Winner :) .

As with last week i think it’s very much who you know or have heard of so with that rather boring stat to go on will forward these two for this, those being James Kingston and presuming that the effects of the 18th in Dubai have not left there mark a chance is given to Louis Oosthuizen[/b to redeem himself.

Up next the Northern Trust Open[/b:3eqz10xu] and an interesting market for this being that it’s 10’s the field with Phil Mickelson in it, whilst you have to respect his chance not for me thankyou.

Firstly i am going to give Hunter a rest this week, will probably regret that, he i’m sure will be relieved but i just feel that he needs a break at the moment.

I am however going to persevere with Jim Furyk with a run out also being given to Padraig Harrington and completing my votes for this Anthony Kim, as in previuos weeks there are others but for one reason or another will be passing to Room 101 :) .

Next to the Steam bath that is Indonesia for the aptly named Indonesian Open.

For me i don’t really like anything here but not to duck the issue you have to respect last years winner Mikko Illonen but i will be looking elsewhere, mainly in the shape of Arjun Atwal, Frankie Minoza and Thammanoon Srirot.

Next to the OAP’s, i mean that with the greatest respect :) to everyone, and the Ace Group Classic.

Having gone with Eduardo Romero last week it would make sense to go with him again but i am going to pass him over and go with these two, Allen Doyle and Andy Bean.

Finally to the start of the LPGA and the SBS Open from Book Him Danno Country .

Firstly i am surprised that Lorena is missing the gig, but i suppose it gives us a better chance :).

Will have to be a bit boring here part in due to the current odds but it would be 10’s bar at least if Lorena was playing so first up will be Paula Creamer who like Hunter will be carrying my Capital more often than not this Year.

The supporting cast will consist of Maria Hjorth, Angela Park and purely because i have seen 125’s available will have to have a small investment on Linda Wessberg, who after a better showing last week without ever looking like winning might be at last coming into the form that has made me pick her as my Lady to follow, granted however this is far more exalted company.

Well that will do it for me for now, i am on Holiday this week :D :) so long may the Sun shine and hopefully on us all come Sunday Evening.

As always whatever your picks BE LUCKY.

I am now going to sample a tin probably Carlsberg Export :D so will catch you all later.

    Cheers for now.

    Adrian.

Let us both hope Adrian for the luck of the Irish in the USA :)

It’s the start of the LPGA tournaments for 2008 and I have decided wisely or foolishly ( probably the latter ) to start betting regularly on them this year. In the SBS Open, I’m having an each way bet on the S/Korean Eun Hee Ji at odds of 40/1. I saw her play in the Women’s World Cup in SA not long ago and thought she looked to be a promising player.

Over in the Indonesian Open, it shows that it must be a weak tournament when Paul McGinley is near the top of the bookies lists. I’ve bet on Shiv Kapur who may enjoy playing here more than in his home country last week and finished 2nd in this tournament in 2007. My other bet is on Thaworn Wiratchant as this course may suit his style of play and he has won in Indonesia before.

Over in the USA, it’s a good competitive field taking part in the Northern Open and it looks quite competitive in my opinion with a lot of players having a decent chance of winning.

Most people know the saying about waiting for ages for one bus to appear and then two show up in a row…….well, I’m hoping for the same analogy to happen regarding Adam Scott who I bet on regularly for ages without success until he won last month. I’ve bet on him again hoping for two wins in a row :)

I thought that Padraig Harrington played quite well in his first pga of the year considering he said he was not feeling 100 percent competitive. He finished 7th in this event last year which is encouraging so my money is on him.

I am going to give the Columbian Camilo Villegas another chance even though he played disappointingly when I backed him recently. For the 3rd week in a row I’ve bet on Jeff Quinney who finished 9th here last season and might have been involved in the play off last week if he had not taken a detour on the 14th hole during the last day and shot a quadruple bogey

    Good luck to everybody.

Hi again, it would appear that for the umpteenth time that i have forgotten a Tournament so i will put that right Tout Sweet .

The Tournament in Question is the HSBC New Zealand PGA, will go in single handed with Brendon De – Jonge as i did him the other Week, and whilst not setting the pulse racing i am prepared to give him another go, not much Logic involved here i’m afraid :) .

    Cheers for now.

    Here we go again guys.

We had some very close shaves last week in terms of getting an outrght winner – but again, a few of our selections came up trumps if they were backed each/way.

For me, it’s becoming more apparent that in any tournament without Woods, absolutely anybody can win. Years ago it was the same old faces, if Woods didn’t win it was Mickelson. If Mickelson didn’t win, it was Singh, or Els, Furyk or Goosen etc. In Europe it was the same – five years ago it was either Monty, Westwood or Clarke. These days absolutely anyone can win because of how the abilities of the ‘rest’ have become compressed.

Take a look at Martin Kaymer. One tournament win and a few top ten finishes in his career and all of a sudden he is ranked number 21 in the world – above the likes of Poulter & Casey

So the crux of this rant is simply to say that I think it’s always worthwhile in backing your golfers each way (or top 5 finish if you use BF) as there is always likely to be a surprise winner these days.

    So to the two main tournaments this week;

    Indonesia Open

I’m shaking my head yet again that Darren Clarke is one of the favs. Until this guy shows any resemblence of his old form he is to be swerved big time in my opinion. I agree that this is a weak looking field, and at his best Clarke would win taking the shots with his cigar, but he isn’t anywhere near his best. He will pop up and win sometime – but I’m happy to miss him when he does win, and start following him there after.

Maybe last week was a pointer. Perhaps you do have to look towards the Asian contingent for the winner, so my first selection is Shiv Kapur (win 32, top five 8.8.). He has made the cut without doing anything special in some strong fields of late, and he might just be ready to strke.

My second selection is a player who had some decent finishes in Asia around this time of the year in 2007. His name is Prayad Marksaeng (win 42, top five 10.6.) and his only outing this year resulted in a decent effort last week in the Indian Masters.

At bigger odds I’m going for some British players in the shape of Robert Rock (win 85, top five 17) and Andrew Coltart (win 110, tip five 29). I’m absolutely astonished at the odds on offer about Coltart. He seems to be appearing on the leaderboard quite often lately, but just seems to fade on the final day. In a weak field, I’m backing him to win, to finish top five, and to finish top ten at odds of 13.5.

    Northern Trust Open

A truly world class field is in attendance for this event and maybe just once we won’t have a surprise winner. As you know I’m a big fan of KJ Choi (win 30, top five 7) and I believe the stronger the field the better this guy plays, so he’s my first selection in this event. As we know, he has already won this year and he has shown steady form since.

I absolutley love the attitude of Justin Rose (win 34, top five 7.8.) who could have easily faded into the wilderness after missing 137 cuts in a row or whatever it was. He is without doubt one of the top players in the world these days and I’ll be backing him in his first start of 2008.

I’m going to stick with Scott Verplank (win 100, top five 17.5) simply because on his day he can putt his way to a win, while my final selection is Aaron Badeley (win 55, top five 11) who has been steady, if not spectacular this year, and might be ready to hit top form.

    Good luck everyone.

No bets this week cos I was in Tokyo….
Should have stayed at home. Funny old place and as for the Karioke or however you spell it. They are mad. Four days away and it’s taken me an hour to catch up on here. Roll on next week. :D

Welcome back Crizzy and I hope you enjoyed Japan and met some nice Geishas  I do like the Japanese but I hate Karaoke and curse them for inventing it.

Mike has a chance of winning in Indonesia and we all have chances of winning in the USA but that is only if Mickelson plays less well over the weekend than he has so far.

    Good luck

Not much luck for any of us over in Indonesia this week but it’s well done again to Adrian for picking a winner as his selection James Kingston won down in sunny South Africa ( I wish I was there ).

Over in California, my selection Jeff Quinney ( 130/1 ) has a chance of winning but I do not expect him to do so against big Phil but I hope he will finish in the top 5 to give a big priced place payout. Mike also has place prospects with Choi and Verplank.

I’m off now to watch the soccer on tv and see Boro get beat ( only joking Mike :) ).

Well done Pete on Jeff Quinney, a very nice e/w bet – it’s a shame he had four bogeys in five holes towards the end.

Well done Aidrian also on picking another winner – great stuff.

I had a little pay out from my Scott Verplank bet (tied 5th) but not enough to cover my outlay throughout the week
