Good morning fellow Golf companions.
Well as we draw ever closer to the Ryder Cup a good European event this week, with a few of those doing battel at Valhalla putting the finishing touches to there preparation for that.
So with out further ado i will begin with the Mercedes Benz Championship, which includes an appearance from Germany’s favourite son Bernhard Langer.
It is however another German who will be carrying the extra burden of me on his shoulders this week, the gent in question Martin Kaymer.
My second choice will be a man who has shown recently that he appears to be getting over his injurys that have plagued him over the last year or so,in the hope that is the case David Howell get’s my vote to hopefully get his head in front here.
For my third choice i am going to go again with Francesco Molinari who performed with credit last week without it must be said not looking likely to trouble the scorers.
One a bit further down the pecking order who has been there or there abouts in the last few runnings of this is Richard Green, so in the hope that i have not put the mockers on him he will complete my quartet for this.
On next to the first of two Ladies tournaments to keep us entertained this week and it is a welcome back for the LPGA and the first staging of the Bell Micro Classic.
It is a difficuilt one to weigh up in the sense that the rest will have benefitted some more than others.
Having crossed the T’s and dotted the I’s i am going to go along with Paula Creamer as my main choice here.
The supporting cast will consist of firstly Katherine Hull, who has burst onto the scene recently with it has to be said a good deal of success.
Stacy Lewis get’s the nod for my third choice, and another chance is given to Kristy McPherson to start showing us what she is capable of.
Finally for me then to the Uniqa Ladies Open played in one of my favourit countries Austria.
Firstly i will not be entertaining Laura Davies in her bid to follow up last years victory.
Gwladys Nocera is my first choice here as she has been having a good time of it recently and i thought given recent performances she would be favourite for this.
Having not backed her recently i am going to rejoin the Rebecca Hudson bandwagon but i still feel she needs a rest.
My final two for this will be Paula Marti, hopefully refreshed by a short break and Veronica Zorzi, the last named a bit of a hunch.
Well that will do it for me for now so as always whatever your picks BE LUCKY.
Cheers for now.
Adrian.
September 10, 2008 at 13:33 #180316Good luck Adrian. Only two events for me to bet on this week. On the Euro tour, there is a decent field for the Mercedes Benz Championship in Germany. A few of the top players may have the Ryder Cup in their thoughts including Robert Karlsson who returns to action after suffering a neck injury. I’m selecting Ross Fisher as I think that this course will suit his game and I also like the chances of Jeev Mikha Singh who finished ninth in the final Major of the season recently.
The lpga tour returns after a 2 week break and the inaugural Bell Micro Classic takes place in Alabama. I think that one of this year’s Major ( the lpga championship ) winners named Yani Tseng will have benefited from a rest after missing the cut at the Safeway Classic which was the event that took place after the Canadian Open when she threw away a healthy lead in the final round. She is my main selection to win at odds of 16/1 which looks good value in my opinion.
I’m also backing Angela Park to get her first lpga victory which she deserves and I’ve noticed that Hee Young Park has shown some improvement recently which will no doubt come to an end now I have selected her. My final choice is Song Hee Kim.Happy punting

Pete
