Good evening to all, as always my fellow golfing officianados, Pete, Mike and if he is still about Crizzy.

Well after for myself another satisfactory week last week allbeit no winners it’s onwards to this weeks action, and some good fare to get stuck into.

I will begin with the European Open and a good field assmembled to get our nashers into here.

Having given it plenty of thought i am going to omit my usual ones here and instead burden my trust on these.

Firstly Nick Dougherty if he is up for it will be my main source of interest, ably backed up hopefully by Richard Green and a player who i think is due a good un Johan Edfors.

On next to the AT&T National, plenty of the H2o needed here as i believe this comes from Maryland and it can get a bit warm in that part of the world, as with the European Open some of my usual ones will be passed over on this occaasion.

In saying that still a somewhat predictable batch here i’m afraid.

Firstly Hunter Mahan is given another outing in the hope that one day he will get his head in front again.

Next a player who did me a favour quite recently, it is none other that Anthony Kim.

Finally for me here and i am going to give a go to the hard hitting JB Holmes, just a hunch on this occasion.

So to the Ladies and firstly the P&G Beauty NW Arkansas Championship, what a mouthfull there.

I was going to ignore Paula Creamer this week as i thought the price would have been about 5’s or at best 6/1, but when Pete sent me a message earlier saying that 10’s was available at Stan James i very swiftly accepted, granted we have to hope that last Sunday’s excertions have not left there mark, but apart from a couple of holes on Sunday it was her best showing in a biggie for somewhile.

Next in line is another who performed with credit in the US Open and who makes a return to my squad after a few weeks abscence, in the hope that she can repeat those efforts it’s a welcome back to Angela Park.

Originally i did not have a third selection but again when i saw 25’s available and for me overpriced compared to Cristie kerr no offence there i had to accept so for one week only if she has returned from the clouds a small investment on Inbee Park will do for me, hopefully if Paula does not oblige it will be a walk in the park :) .

Finally then to the Ladies English Open which is this weeks offering from the European side of the Ladies Tour.

    Unfortunately again predictability reigns.

Having won via the penalty shoot out in Tenerife and although a touch skinny for some perhaps, quoting the price there  i am going to go with Rebecca Hudson and Melissa Reid who too has had a good run of it recently.

For my final selection this week it is also a player who performed with credit in the Tenerife Open and who caught my eye whilst watching a recording of the last round, in the hope that she can build on that it is a welcome to my team for the first time to Maria Verchenova, all these Ladies i have latched onto  , thankfully the one i am with has no problem with it :) must be mad

Well that will do it for me again, so as always whatever your picks BE LUCKY, do we dare predict Chappers and co’s offerings :?: , i myself will wait on this occasion.

    Cheers for now.

    Adrian.

Good luck to Adrian, Mike and to anybody else betting on the golf this week.

The best event this week is the European Open and some good players are competing in it. I am having a decent bet on Robert Karlsson to get the win he deserves for playing very consistently this year. He has come very close to winning on more than one occasion this season and I think that one week, everything will go his way and he’ll win a tournament comfortably. Hopefully for my bank balance, this week will be it. My other bet is on Ross Fisher.

The pga tour continues and it’s the AT & T National which takes place on a quite difficult par 70 course and the winning score may be only half of the one made last week by Kenny Perry at the easy course in the Buick Open.
I’m not sure whether Hunter Mahan‘s good performance a fortnight ago was a sign of a return to decent form or because he was playing at his favourite course. I’m betting that it was the former and he can go one better this week.
Rocco Mediate almost beat Tiger in the US Open and he played reasonably last week but I think that returning to a more difficult course will suit his style better and I’ve backed him at odds of 65/1.
Trevor Immelman will be keen to get back in the winner’s enclosure and my money is on him to do so and I’m giving another chance to Jeff Quinney as I noticed that he managed a 12th place last year at this event and his poor performance last week may have been due to him disliking the course.

The S/Koreans have been winning recently on the lpga circuit and this week in the 54 hole P&G Beauty NW Arkansas Championship, I think that this trend may continue and the woman I am backing to win is the female equivalent of Robert Karlsson ( I mean in golf performances and not in height :) ) as she has also played consistently all year without winning. Her name is Jeong Jang and she has finished in the top 10 this year on five occasions including runner up spots in 3 tournaments. I’m also going to bet on Paula Creamer as the odds of 10/1 on offer are too generous for me to resist about one of the best lpga players taking part in an event which is weaker than average.

    Happy punting :)

    Hi chaps,

Some big priced near misses last week, so let’s hope we can go one better this time around.

    European Open

It’s not easy when we have no course form to go on, but that’s what we have here as this tournament is being played at The London Golf Club as opposed to The K Club, which has hosted this event since 1995.

Encouragingly for Monty fans he says he is familiar with the course and has played well on it before. However, at odds as short as 18/1 he is a typical example of the bookies over-reacting to one good week. Monty played well a few weeks back but last week was the first time he has shown any resemblence of the form he was in this time last year. Prior to last week he was 80/1, this week, in arguably a stronger field, he is low as 18/1 – at those odds I am reluctantly passing him over though I hope he plays well.

My first selection is (squirm now Adrian) Richard Greene, the left handed Australian who is available at 33/1. He put in a strong finish last week to finish 4th, just a few after his excellent 6th place finish at the BMW PGA Championship and is one of just a few golfers at the head of the market who you can say is clearly in good heart.

Another player seemingly in fine form is the South African Charl Schwartzel and he is my second selection at odds of 40/1. His last two events have seen him claim two top ten finishes (6th & 7th) in strong events and I reckon he has a solid each way chance.

Garcia, Harrington, Poulter and Rose are all too short in the betting for different reasons (that I won’t go into) so I’m going to stick a few more quid on last week’s third place finisher Soren Hansen (25/1) who like Monty, played well at this time of the year last season.

I’ve got no strong feelings on the US Golf guys so will leave it alone this week.

I’m on holiday next week so won’t be able to post but I will be back the week after to preview The Open.

    Good luck this week everyone.

    Mike

Well done Pete on a top tip in Ross Fisher – I hope you got on at decent odds mate. Well done.

I just about salvaged some face with Soren Hansen creeping into a place – though I will get my coat after tipping up Charl Schwartzel who finished completely last out of the 150 or so that started

    Sorry

Cheers Mike and I managed to get odds of 85/1 on BF for Ross Fisher ( I collected at less as I laid some off at 3/1…don’t want to get too greedy ). Don’t know what happened with your pick on Schwartzel who finished last…….this is usually what happens to my selections.

The star of this week is Adrian who picked Rebecca Hudson to win the Euro ladies and has also backed the winner on the pga tour with his selection Anthony Kim. He also has a chance of winning on the lpga with Angela Park.

Have a good holiday and look forward to reading about your winning selection in the Open.

    Pete
