    Wow,

Amazing drama at Doncaster. As if the title battle hasn’t been exciting already, then that happens.

Sanders gets overtaken in the race half a furlong out, before Eddie Ahern’s mount drifts all over the place and throws his jockey off 25 yards from the post. The loose horse then interferes with Seb’s mount, but he hangs on to win and goes 2 ahead in the title race.

Speilberg would be happy with this script

How can anyone say this is not the most dramatic and exciting end to a flat season I’ve no idea…..I think he’d have got that in the stewards room though…even so, a great start to the day :D

Ahern’s mount really didnt like getting whipped, went allover the place.

Then as he drifted left he decided to turn right again but throw Ahern off in the process.

    Deary me.

Very exciting finish for everyone over there
Not here, our leading rider Noel Callow is on 97 wins, 40 ahead of the next guy Robbie Fradd – no surprises I don’t think as we’ve only got about 12 meetings left. :D

    The Drama intensifies :D

After the antics of the 2nd race, Spencer then gets chinned on the line in the 3rd.

He rides a great race to win the 4th and is only one behind.

Then it’s Sanders time to get chinned on the line and gets beat in the very last stride in the 6th race.

Then it’s announced that Sanders ride in the 8th race is a non runner. So Spencer has 2 rides left (and needs to win both to win outright) while Sanders only has 1 ride left.

If Spencer wins the next race and draws level, wouldn’t it be fitting and an amazing sporting gesture if he gives up his ride in the last?

A brilliant conclusion to the season, with Spencer and Sanders sharing the title in the end.

Spencer went up enormously in my estimation when he spoke live straight after the race, being 100% genuine when he said he would rather have drawn the title race than won it outright.

Before the last race, Sanders said that he hoped Spencer would win as it would be fitting to share the title.

Two absolute gentlemen who have worked their butts off all season. You couldn’t script it, even the last day had just as much drama, twists and turns as all the days that preceeded it.

I wanted Seb to win, but I would have liked him to have won it by 7 or 8 as I didn’t anyone to win by just one as nobody deserved to lose. Looking back now, I am so chuffed that it has been shared and I have to say that I got all emotional when Spencer crossed the line in the last.

Terrific stuff – thank you guys.

Was really good of Jamie Spencer to say that.

A great end to the flat season.

    Bring on the proper stuff.

I really wanted to Jamie to win up to today but in all fairness, the outcome was exactly right :D .

So much time and effort has been put in by both jockeys, it would’ve been cruel to see one man in the runner up spot.

Both men came across as decent and sporting and they are a credit to racing.

Let them now both go home, have a decent meal, a few drinks and above all, take time out to relax :D .

Many thanks to them both for a fascinating, thrilling competition.

The best point that Spencer made was how it wasn’t an engineered draw, that they didn’t give up once they were level and that they fought it right to the wire. Now that’s sporting.

Congratulations to both jockeys. They have ridden their ba**s off and been incredibly sporting throughout. The fairest result in the end.

What a pity the awards cermony couldnt have been televised properley.

I thought Eddie came off that horse very easily but hey in the end it didnt affect the outcome brilliant racing wish I had gone, I really regret not going.

Did the team on Racing UK seem a bit miserable today Lydia and Steve tried but I think we know where they really wanted to be.

Seb Sanders’ achievement is really good for British racing. He started off as a pupil at the British Racing School and I think I’m right in saying he is their most succesful graduate.

So ,if what he has done in terms of hard work, dedication and a superb ability to judge pace and position inspires present and future students to aspire to those abilities, then hopefully we will see more talented jocks emerging from the BRS course in future years.
