I recently have purchased and watched the whole 5 Seasons of this epic Tv Drama based on in the majority black city of Baltimore U.S.A. The show is dominated by incredible pieces of acting by African American Actors.
I found it inspiring while also brutal in its portrayal of American Ghetto life.
I would urge you to buy the complete DVD Collection and sit down over a few weeks and dedicate yourself to the show. I doubt you will ever see anything as good as this every in your life.
Incredible show and wanted to give the European’s a Head up on it.

Here is a link if you wish to look further at this show. As you can see its the higest rated show in America ever
March 4, 2010 at 19:58 #280446I first came across the 3rd series on FX ands was completely engrossed
It is for me the finest tv series ever produced. I thought HBO hit the peaks with the wonderful Sopranos but this surpassed that in so far as over five series there isnt one episode which isnt completely engrossing and there isnt a wasted frame
Simply brilliant television….

What’s your favorite Character?
Omar is just unreal acting tbh. I was distraught when they got to Stringer i must say
March 4, 2010 at 20:04 #280449I’ve always considered Susan Harris’s "SOAP" to be the best TV series ever
March 4, 2010 at 20:06 #280451Baltimore isn’t actually like that, at least most of it. Nothing like Detroit. Excellent show, though.
March 4, 2010 at 20:08 #280453Not sure Miss.
I read a piece that says its almost exactly like that….the ghetto life that is.
Not sure about the Politics part but the streets are very realistic
March 4, 2010 at 20:10 #280454My daughter has been raving about this for ages; I need to watch the whole lot from the beginning..I’m hoping she’s got it on dvd. There was an article about it in The Observer [the gospel according to] which said ‘is this the greatest tv series ever made?’before the first series, but I didn’t have the time to watch it. Must find the time.
March 4, 2010 at 20:12 #28045660 Hours is the total time Moe.
I have a great link on youtube that one person made with the best quotes but dont want to ruin it for people so i better not put it up
March 4, 2010 at 20:42 #280467I watched The Wire after reading the press hype. It was ok but certainly not a patch on The Sopranos, in my opinion – neither script wise nor acting wise.

March 4, 2010 at 20:48 #280472I watched The Wire after reading the press hype. It was ok but certainly not a patch on The Sopranos, in my opinion – neither script wise nor acting wise.
Definitely a good show but the Sopranos was in a different league. The first 3/4 series were brilliant television. It probably did go a bit stale in the last two series though.
March 4, 2010 at 20:55 #280474An excellent series and probably the most comprehensive critique of American capitalism ever put together.
I watched all five series on BBC 2 and am currently re-watching all five on DVD with the mrs – she didn’t stay up to watch it on telly but has worryingly really got into it and keeps threatening ‘to put a cap in my ass’ if she asks to me to do something and I don’t.
My favourite scene was Clay Davis when he was in Court
"They don’t teach it in law school." – Pearlman
March 4, 2010 at 20:58 #280476Pomp you may enjoy this
March 4, 2010 at 21:03 #280477I might do that (buy the DVD collection). Meant to watch it on BBC 2 but the challenge of finding time every single night was too great so I decided not to attempt it.
The Sopranos will take a bit of surpassing here in Cormack Towers though.
March 4, 2010 at 21:04 #280478Lester Freeman was a very good character imo.
Snoop was a girl? didn’t know that until after i watched this
March 4, 2010 at 21:12 #280482I preferred The Wire to The Sopranos because
Each episode was a stand alone.
Characters were more believable and contemporary.
Sopranos got to be a bit of an "aria show" for the leading actors towards the end.
Personaly, I think The Shield knocked them both into a cocked hat for televisual entertainment."All my life’s a **** up, sunrise till sundown"
March 4, 2010 at 21:35 #280485Wallace, that was good that, thanks. Also like you I too didn’t realise Snoop was a girl or McNullty and Stringer Bell were British – unbelievable acting.
I would advise a word of warning to any who plan to watch it for the first time. You will end up at sometime calling someone (probably you boss) a ‘dumbass cocksucking mother-fcuker’
March 4, 2010 at 21:48 #280486Pompete my favorite quote in the whole thing was when Omar robbed Cheese and cheese was explaining to Prop Joe what went wrong.
Cheese "Omar had one of those commando’s squads with him…there was this one hoe that pulled a gun out of her pussy…the **** was unscene man"
Method Man plays Cheese and his is superb in it tbh
