Im my humble opinion the list would be incomplete
without the great, but tragic, Frederick James Archer.

I have already posted on this thread, and realise that this isn’t the vote.
In my view it is somewhat perverse, that all time greats such as Archer and Richards are not included already, but also Eddery, whose career crossed in part, with Cauthen and Dettori, is not in , in preference to those two.
Whilst respecting a democratic vote, anyone try to justify any stats that support that travesty ?

There tends to be an obsession with the recent in these types of polls. Frankie isn’t even retired yet and he’s tarnished himself a bit recently. Piggott’s pedestal took a knock along the way as well.

Pat Eddery should have been a shoo in ahead of Dettori. I recall a power ride Pat gave to a horse of Richard Hannon’s called Lime Street Blues, sometime in the mid 90’s, where the whip went up and down like Wilfred Brambell on a Rent Boy. It would certainly have broken several of today’s rules but it had the desired effect and the combination got up near the finish. He’s certainly top 5 all time in my book.

Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
