I earmarked the doubtful runners, Sir Michael and John Gosden said their Gordon Richards representitives will be going, Bolger has said Lush Lashes is likely to run, looks to be a good renewal (last years was poor albeit an excellent winner and a good runner up) and a strong English hand this year. Think Curtain Call, Tartan Bearer, Lush Lashes are the major players, think Pipedreamer will get outpaced out there, I’d guess O’Brien might throw Frozen Fire in their with Red Rock Canyon providing pacemaker duties. Think the winner will be the 4yo to follow this season, i’d be siding with Tartan Bearer as he is probably the most classy horse but Curtain Call looks to have trained on and Frozen Fire even after his farcical last run looked like a bull.

She’s going to have a stormer of a season and if she runs she’ll go close.
If all of these not marked as ‘unlikely’ run then it’s going to be a cracking renewal.
AOB keeps putting this Poet in all the top races. Could we see a stylish performance from that one here?
May 15, 2009 at 04:28 #227752Poet might be this year’s Song Of Hiawatha!

I grant you she’s a nice filly HWTH I backed her myself at Epsom and at Gowran but the big question with her is will she run if the ground is fast. .
I would hate to put you off and she goes and wins but she showed she needs a minium of good and preferably soft ground be seen at here best.
If it did turn up soft and she was fit she would benefit where others wouldn’t and have a helluva chance.
I sruck with Pipedreamer and am hoping my old fav reverses places with Tartan Bearer. John Gosden fancies his chances and that’s good enough forme to have an AP ew bet when they open up.

May 15, 2009 at 23:20 #227932This years King George winner will again find the trip on the short side,
but he has a plan to follow before we get to Ascot!May 16, 2009 at 00:26 #227936I grant you she’s a nice filly HWTH I backed her myself at Epsom and at Gowran but the big question with her is will she run if the ground is fast. .

Absolutely no chance of fast ground at the Curragh next weekend given the recent weather locally. Conditions should be perfect for a big run from Katiyra.
May 16, 2009 at 01:20 #227951This years King George winner will again find the trip on the short side,
but he has a plan to follow before we get to Ascot!Really? Conduit is by far the better stayer, and SMS will certianly send Tartan Bearer where speed is more an issue, hence why SMS says he will go to the Eclipse after this, he could win a King George but they’d fancy Conduit at the 1m4f than Tartan Bearer.
That saying I’d say these are Stoute’s best horses in the yard.
May 19, 2009 at 19:30 #228726Last year middle Distance 3yr olds were very very very very Poor Crop…..Compared to this year its like Chalk and Cheese.
Thewayyouare at 7/1 is a cracking bet….There all over this at Coolmore to get him to stud with a few Group 1 winning races and need to really step up but ran a promising race in the Ganay with no pacemaker and looked to me just to get rid of the cobwebs since finishing poorly in the French Derby.
I be suprised if he was 7/1 on the day…Blue Square seem to want to take it on…
May 19, 2009 at 19:40 #228728I am looking no further than Tartan Bearer.
Gambling Only Pays When You're Winning
May 20, 2009 at 01:34 #228858Tartan Bearer looks a certain Non Runner.
May 20, 2009 at 01:50 #228861Disappointed Katiyra wont be running on ground that would have suited her perfectly.
As it stands, Tartan Bearer looks like he wont run and we’re probably looking at one of Weld’s dropping out too (Which one thatll be however is anyones guess).
Cima De Triomphe and Thewayyouare don’t jump out at me as good enough to win a big race like that. However, saying that this isnt the strongest of races it has to be said.
At the moment I’m tempted to go for Lush Lashes by elimination. If she comes back to the racecourse like the rest of Bolger’s stable have done on FTO this season she could be very hard to beat. She’s got a decent season ahead of her and I hope she gets off to a flier.
May 20, 2009 at 02:25 #228868Cima De Triomphe is going to be pulled too.
May 20, 2009 at 09:02 #228890I wouldn’t like to back Tartran Bearer, Lush Lashes or Casual Conquest on rain-affected going.
This race might fall into the lap of
Famous Name
if the going is Heavy again.
May 20, 2009 at 10:50 #228906A warm weekend is in store for The Curragh so it could dry out by Sunday.

They better get some camels to drink up the water if it’s going to be any better than Heavy
This is beginging to look like a one horse race with only Famous Name having any heavy ground form worth talking about.
SMS has already said Tartan Bearer probably won’t run despite having won on softish ground before. I have never been totally convinced he’s a mile and a half horse ever since SMS drabbly said."He got the trip at Epsom Ok". It was his total lack of enthusiasm about it as if to say he got it and no more.
His entries seem to back that up and now his wirthdrawel from this makes me think the could be thinking he may not get this 1m2f on ground so heavy.
It’s a good prize to bypass for a horse who hs shown he can act on softsih ground and it’s not exactly overburdened with good horses that go in it.
Anyway I think there will be further withdrawls so I am grabbing the 4/1 about Famous Name which will look awful good if half these don’t run.
May 20, 2009 at 19:34 #229022Tartan Bearer over 1m4f looked to get it better than Golan on his 1st attempt and Golan won a King George.
SMS has also spoke glowingly about Tartan Bearer’s Derby run, but the same owners have Conduit who obviously is the better stayer, and Tartan Bearer is fast enough to win G1’s over 1m2f so connections are using common sense here.
