If any horse deserves his retirement, then this old trooper certainly does.
God bless him he always did his best.
Long and happy retirement, hopefully with good health.
Lets all hope he wins, but he certainly owes nobody anythingDecember 12, 2011 at 00:11 #382241Lets hope he comes back safe and sound and enjoys his retirement. It’s about time…he has had more retirements than Frank Sinatra
December 12, 2011 at 01:49 #382249The popular 14yo runs at Wolverhampton tomorrow, in what will be his final race. Hopefully he can bow out in style, and enjoy a long retirement.
Bet him so many times in the past I’ve lost count, I’ll definitely be having a sentimental fiver on him.
VtC, you should maybe think about giving your fiver to the IJF rather than the bookies?
I shall enjoy watching the race and hope that TT can finish in the first four or five.
Best wishes.
December 12, 2011 at 13:22 #382280What time is the race? I’m working till 7…but there’s a bookies close to where I work!
December 12, 2011 at 13:39 #382282The 15:45 at Wolverhampton.

The Tatling
wins a photo finish at 16/1.
December 12, 2011 at 15:51 #382323He only went and won his final start, coming with a rattle to get up on the jam stick at 16/1. What a story, what a horse!
December 12, 2011 at 15:55 #382325Hope they don’t get greedy and run him again
December 12, 2011 at 15:57 #382326What a great story, but now let the old boy go out on a high and enjoy an honourable retirement.
14 years of age, 165 runs, 17 wins and 49 places. Wow !!December 12, 2011 at 16:05 #382329Couldn’t write that script!
December 12, 2011 at 16:10 #382334I hate aw racing, it’s all bent
December 12, 2011 at 16:11 #382336Sorry guys, it looks like the sportinglife may have their stats wrong, it may be 178 runs with 18 wins.
Whatever, its an amazing ending to a great storyDecember 12, 2011 at 17:54 #382359Well done The Tatling – may you enjoy many years of doing something else – surely total retirement would not be to his liking after all those competitive years???
December 12, 2011 at 18:12 #382361As Milton Bradley said, they had tried to pension him off a couple of years ago and he just didn’t like it. I watched the replay, missing the kick suited him and it was a smashing effort to win from that draw. I watched Hayley win on him at Yarmouth in the summer and the jockey only steers, he knows where to go and where the lollipop is.
December 12, 2011 at 19:34 #382373Fantstic news to come home to!

Lava Man wasn’t a fan of retirement so he became a track pony. He is still the star of the barn.
