runs at 3.15 beverly, this horse has been around ages nearly 90starts great servent to connections, wonder can he still do himself justice at his age now?
June 24, 2008 at 15:25 #169948His trainer has become something of a laughing stock.
June 24, 2008 at 15:35 #169949just had a look at prize money won by him, at this stage a nice big field should be waiting for him now………….
June 24, 2008 at 16:00 #169952Ridiculous for a horse to kept in flat racing until the age of 11. Shame, that many races he deserves to be spending his days in a huge field. Owes nothing i think you will agree.

We’ve done the whole too-old-to-race thing to death with regard to jumps horses at least twice of late, so I will endeavour not to cover too much old ground.
Suffice it to say, for as long as the Flat code keeps throwing up the likes of Redoubtable, Sharp Hat and Dancing Mystery, who have all won – never mind just run – in the last few years when older than The Tatling is now (irrespective of at what level), I’m wary of talking about the right age to retire a horse from the level in such black and white terms.
If it’s evident after his first two or three runs this summer that he is hating the game now, and the a*rse falls out of his rating by a couple of stone accordingly, then by all means connections ought to begin to consider it. Finishing right out the back on his seasonal reappearance, at the same time as a great many of his stablemates are as well (Milton Bradley’s stats were one winner from 94 since the start of May prior to today’s action), isn’t quite compelling enough evidence for me just yet.

Ouch, that’s a bit harsh, David.
Beginning to show his years would be kinder.
The last three times I have spoken to him after a race he has blamed his jockey!!!

June 24, 2008 at 19:46 #169981You are right Colin, there is nothing at all funny about how he campaigned North Fleet. This son of Bertolini, a modest sprinter on the Flat completely lost his way, and the the trainer’s answer was to send him hurdling. Rather than try and describe what happened, I’ve copied and pasted the Timeform Perspective entry on that outing.
NORTH FLEET, a one-time modest sprinter, had no place in this field and met with a sad end, causing mayhem when attempting to refuse at the first 2 flights (unseated before second) and then sustaining fatal injuries whilst loose.
If my memory serves me right, that race was on a Sunday, a day when all runners continue to get appearance money, at Hereford which, barring Chepstow where Bradley trains, would just about be the nearest track Bradley’s training establishment.

June 25, 2008 at 11:40 #170032Why has Bradley’s stable gone into freefall? Being out in Germany I can read the RP online but cant keep up with everything. Has the stable had a virus. Only four or five years ago the man was the Dandy Nicholls of the south with the likes of The Tatling, Whistler, Corridor Creeper and Currency, these just of the top of my head, so undoubtedly many others, winning many races.
Surely a good trainer doesn’t become a laughing stock virtualy overnight.
June 25, 2008 at 17:22 #170085Surely he can’t be that bad – after all, he won a race with Turkish Sultan !
June 25, 2008 at 22:04 #170109It makes me think of that poem; rage, rage against the dying of the light…..I guess both horse and trainer are not getting any younger and their glory days are well and truly behind them, but one of them isn’t ready to admit to it.
June 26, 2008 at 07:51 #170147Saw Miltat Salisbury yesterday he’s beginning to look an old man.

June 27, 2008 at 20:52 #170412After seeing Lithaam score at Folkestone today (a horse with zero form upto today) maybe writing off milton bradley stable may be premature.
one thing is for sure if his stable does improve will have many well handicapped horses ready to win - AuthorPosts
