Excellent attheraces, good views and head to head opinions. Keep the mixed meeting at Sandown and agree with a 2 week brake in the NH program.
Very good viewing.
May 2, 2010 at 14:51 #293559Very good idea, The begin the new season at Haydock on Swinton Hurdle day which would be a good mix of flat and jumps.
You could run some meetings and restrict them to Amateur and Conditionals.

If 2010 so far (and the bad spell in early 2009, and the floods of summer 2007, and and and…) has taught us nothing else, it should be that racing should take place whenever the gods conspire to let it. Our unpredictable, unreadable climate practically demands it.
Factoring gaps into the racing calendar for no reason other than some notional drawing of breath suddenly doesn’t look too good an idea if conditions for racing are perfect during the break, but meetings are lost on resumption.
There isn’t a rider, trainer, or indeed punter, in existence who doesn’t have the option of sitting out a week or two of racing of their own volition, whilst them that still want to participate, can participate.

Adoptive father of two. The patron saint of lower-grade fare. A gently critical friend of point-to-pointing. Kindness is a political act.

Yes. John Mathias’s indiscrete act aside, the Sedgefield amateur meeting the other week was a pleasure to behold and doubtless a huge deal for all involved in it.

Agreed totally, you can`t get enough jump racing anyway.
May 5, 2010 at 17:09 #294243There’s a ten day break for NH riders already – after Uttoxeter on Weds Sept 8th, there are no jumping meetings scheduled until Sun Sept 19th, when they restart at …. Uttoxeter (and Plumpton).
