Anyone can say this horse was so superior to that horse. Why no explanation of why?
Give ratings, not just of Easy Goer, but of those he beat.
We in Europe recognise Secretariat as one of the best there has ever been. Shame you can’t do the same.
It is a good job we have Miss W on this forum to represent America.
Frankel also has the best action I’ve seen. Only Nashwan comes close.

Ginger, I could write a book on how many would leave Frankel gasping for air. Secretariat is now "one of the best"? Puleeze dear..he IS THE BEST of all time. Grass he was even better than dirt. His best beats anyones best, PERIOD! He would beat your best Nijinsky II by 5 easy lenghts..Why I don’t bother giving reasons is because we here in America are literally bored to death hearing about the best one ever year after year.
We know all about Dancing Brave, George Washington, Sea the Stars etc etc. Frankel is just the new soup of the day…the media there (and we know how above board they are) promote these horses and probably get a cut of the stud money…they should anyway. It’s a laugh, spotting a horse 3 lenghts in a match race scenario and 8 lbs too and then start the best ever gushing over and over again. At least Goldi came here to prove she is the best miler. And they never claimed her the best ever like they do with Frankel and STS among others. You people don’t race there. How would Frankel react to PRESSURE? He’d have to catch a Sidneys Candy and hold off a Goldikova. When he does that (which he wont even try) then i’ll say he is the best miler, no more can be said.
July 27, 2011 at 21:03 #366085Perfectly possible to fully appreciate Frankel’s brilliance while taking the time to listen to the always interesting insights from Richard Hughes after the race where without making excuses he had no reason but to give an honest assessment of how he found Canford Cliffs to be on the day……….both horses are champions and today gave us a chance to assess both in terms of each other, but it would be silly to ignore all possible factors in the evaluation of what we saw.
July 27, 2011 at 21:08 #366086lastword; we shouldn’t really hijack a thread about Frankel [who was awesome today; I was at my daughters and called her into the living room to see the way that people were clapping him on the way down to the start] but feel free to start a thread [with links which I can’t do!] about the ding dong battles that Easy Goer and Sunday Silence had. It’s a year in American racing that I’ve long been fascinated with.
July 27, 2011 at 21:10 #366087Of course the American horses could always come over here Lastword. I’m sure they would be most welcome.
July 27, 2011 at 21:11 #366089"This horse doesnt just beat horses….he detroys them.""" quote of the year from J Mcgrath after the Guineas and rang so true today.
Look at the starting prices of all the horses that have finished second to Frankel and you will see that CC did well to hold on for second. Those that try and beat Frankel get destroyed. He is the best I have seen in my 40 years. Simple.
PS What a shame that we have a young American idiot spoiling this thread. I am a great fan of American racing and some of the American horses are legendary. Who knows how they compare but I would never dream of going on to one of their sites and degrading one of their champions. Shameful and disrespectful to us as well as your own country.
"this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"
July 27, 2011 at 21:39 #366092I don’t understand people who watch a magnificent race and immediately grumble that so-and-so was better and blah blah he’d get crushed in a REAL horse race, he hasn’t done enough, blah blah blah. Just discard the hype if you have to and enjoy the ride.
July 27, 2011 at 21:53 #366096like others on this thread I have been fortunate enough to have gone racing for the last 40 plus years. I was even at Ascot to see "the Brigadier" win his only 12 furlong race.
However, I personally have never seen a horse as exciting as this beast at the highest level, a statement I thought I would ever make after seeing the sublime Dancing Brave.
Forget the ratings and collateral form, which I know are extremely important. But, sometimes you have to just believe the visuals and be thankful that a true superstar comes along, and be so grateful that you were fortunate to witness it. It’s not just one memorable performance, but a handful.
I truly hope he remains sound and enjoys a fruitful stud duty upon his retirement, and anticipate each follow-up race with the greatest of relish.
Also excellent shots at the start of the Guineas.

Sorry to ruin the party but it seems you all need a reality check. If I didn’t get it across the first time, i’ll try again. You have a few races from the new annointed one and expect us all to swallow hook line and sinker that he is the greatest of all time. In this case I point out that taking 8 lbs and getting a 3 length cushion to work with in a match race scenario is NOT what great races are made of. Not great racehorses as well.
So you’ll excuse me if I invoke the names of some REAL great horses just to snap you all back to reality. Consider me a splash of water on your tired faces. Do any of you even know of Dr. Fager? HE was the greatest miler ever, grass or dirt. He spotted horses huge weight advantages and still broke track records. I can honestly say that Frankel would be no better than 2nd by 10 to the late great docter and thats with him being spotted 10 lbs. All this distance talk is silly too. Now he is Nijinsky II? Gimmie a break. And if you call this a hijacking of a thread then you want one party rule..no voices of reason if they happen to be different. I have seen it all and no offense but I am really laughing at everyone who is falling in line today over the next Fake Superstar. This isn’t about America vrs the Europe. This is about keeping it real.July 27, 2011 at 22:12 #366100AnonymousInactive- Total Posts 17716
Sorry to ruin the party
You’re not, dear boy. You’re just making yourself look a xenophobic nitwit. Nobody is taking you seriously, so why not just pick up your rattle and get back in your perambulator?

Pinza, stop hiding behind the flag. I measure horseflesh. It’s what I do and have been successful for 40 years. Don’t make this America vrs the Euro’s (sad I can’t even say Britain now with the EU and ALL) Appearently I HAVE rained on your coronation party and with good reason. The horse is good but BADLY overated.
Just keeping it real. It’s what I do

Sorry to feed the troll, folks: but
lastword
might want to gainsay his name by leaving the last word to the
Bloodhorse
,
LA Times
and
Thoroughbred Times
, on the basis that his compatriots know a thing or two. Read, learn, and inwardly digest:
July 27, 2011 at 22:27 #366106Frankel is a 3yo. This is July. Frankel’s career is not over. He is likely to improve, and is likely to face even better racehorses in larger fields. It is apples and oranges, comparing horses across 50 years and two continents.
Pay no attention to the troll.

The irony is that Prince Khalid went to great lengths to choose the right horse to name after the great US trainer, Bobby Frankel.

The Official Handicapper sees Frankel on 134/135 for today’s race
http://www.racingpost.com/news/horse-racing/glorious-goodwood-goodwood-frankel-rated-just-1lb-inferior-to-sea-the-stars/891015/top/
no doubt, judged on his 7.5l defeat of the 120 rated Rio De La Plata (officially 2lbs per length @ 1m), and eminently more sensible than any 140+ rating, imo. At his age, he could well have more improvement in him, but he needs to, to bear comparison with such as Brigadier Gerard.July 27, 2011 at 22:56 #366112AnonymousInactive- Total Posts 17716
First of all I am well aware that your media machine has it’s influence here in the States and many lemmings such as yourselves buy into it. Let me tell you I was here before Bloodhorse and the rest of the rags and pay them no heed. I am an American who measures his OWN horseflesh. I do my own handicapping…No Beyers for me or Timeforms..what for? This is why I play to begin with and consider myself the best judge of horseflesh and rightfully so. It is no game for me. It IS my life . It has been my Entire life.
Taken by hand as a 5 year old I got to see the Kelso’s and Carry Backs. By the time I saw Buckpasser and Dr Fager and Damascus, I was already quite the little handicapper. Most definitely a fan.Accomplished and as advanced as I am now to the ordianary masses, I KNOW a great horse when I see one. The problem I have with you people over there is that you want to have coronations without a TEST! Sea the Stars for instance…He will always be looked at as cowardly…not he of course but his people…And THEY make their own flesh measurments. THEY ducked Zenyatta, a horse that has trouble making lastword’s top 100 all time list. So you see where i’m going with this. Have fun over there but just know there are millions here who don’t buy it. WE WANT TO SEE A TEST. HERE! We dont go there because DIRT is our game and we dont crawl the first 2/3 rds and then blast home as you do there. HERE we test them wire to wire.
Our game has taken a slide no doubt in past years but you guys still know Kentucky breds rule the world. Anyway, sorry to ruffle feathers but I am only here to keep it real. It’s what I do and have been doing so for 40 plus years. Lets enjoy him for what he is. A very good miler who IMO needs to beat Goldikova before I even call him the best. Fillies in the fall remember. The distance question is ridiculous. This horse can only get the mile, especially in a real race. Nijinsky II was your best, Brig Gerad and Dancing Brave all good ones but no Secretariats. Frankel right now has trouble making my top 20 Euro list. I’ll supply the list. Don’t make me do it. I swear I will -
