Iam sure maybe 20 years ago Ireland set a date and at that point every horse under a certain rating were banned , the rating was quite low and got rid of the real slow ones from system. Did that actually happen or was it a proposal ??

Mr Johnston chose to revive a debate he and I had 24 years ago – when he displayed his usual bias and belief that only he can possibly be right, by selectively quoting from my letter but offering me no right of reply.
In consideration of the sensibilities of other posters, I won’t put into print my long held opinion of Mr Johnston. Who by the way is not a trainer, he retired years ago.
November 28, 2025 at 09:24 #1745754Mark Johnston’s official title is ‘assistant trainer’ so he is still training although his son is the official trainer. Mark Johnston’s view is certainly consistent with the majority here in that there is too much racing of poor quality. Cut out 50% of the low grade rubbish and there would he more money for decent horses.
You would have noticed that in quoting Mark Johnson’s words I omitted your name to ensure it wasn’t personal. I was emphasising the principle.
It is sad that after 24 years you are obviously still so bitter.
