Shalati Princess gave a good run for the money I suppose but I had really high hopes for the disappointing Power Unit.
Anyway, it’s always nice to see popular horses like the top two putting in classy, gutsy performances to win competitive handicaps at decent prices – especially when I tip ’em both on the same day!!! I guess it would have been greedy to ask for any more!
Hope you guys were on, LSP looking pretty healthy now! Another day like this one tomorrow perhaps…..?

Still seething about that decision – even Richard Hoiles when summing up the afternoon on Channel 4 described it as "astonishing, really", but still in profit on the day so it could have been worse I guess.

May 16, 2004 at 08:22 #52905Very unlucky Rich. Unfortunately my poor cat is still limping somewhat after the CC race.
Nevertheless – good tipstering – keep it up :)

May 16, 2004 at 09:00 #52906Desparately unlucky in the first race – but profit is profit, at least they could have caqlled it a dead heat like later in the day – anyway he’s for another winning day on Sunday
May 16, 2004 at 10:37 #52907We can’t be that unlucky two days in a row, surely?!

May 16, 2004 at 10:41 #52908Important Notice
A while ago I was PMd to suggest that by employing a particular Massey filter the number of bets could be almost halved at the expense of only a couple of shortish winners. I found this very interesting of course and did a little research, only to find that we would have lost quite a few of the biggies over the last year including the 40/1 & 20/1 at Cheltenham and a couple of 33/1s as well. The two at York on Thursday and yesterday’s Celtic Mill would also have been lost. Add that to the fact that Adrian is now restricting access to his ratings and it becomes a bit academic anyway, but it nevertheless served to get me thinking about filters and although I certainly don’t want to complicate the system too much beyond it’s naked form, which let’s face it has proved rather successful, I believe I have found one that works really well…..
I completed my research yesterday mid-afternoon and that was realistically a bit too late to tell you that it negated Red Fort in the 3.10. Anyway I didn’t back it myself and after the CC debacle you can imagine what I was saying when it skipped clear inside the One!
In total, since May 1st last year, the new filter would have negated 106 selections with only two of them coming in at 5/1 & 11/2. Red Fort would have been the thirteenth since I started posting on April 13th – and the first of those to even get placed, so I will be employing the new filter from this point on. I obviously don’t want to be accused of back-fitting so all previous results will of course remain unaltered, I’ll just rule out where necessary in the future.
Even More Important Notice!!!
For a couple of months now the planets have been aligning for my local team Swindon Town to stuff Br*stol Sh*ty at Cardiff in the 2nd Division Play-Off Final. But Phase 1 is this afternoon when we play host to Brighton, so any extra energy that followers of this system can channel towards the visitor’s net at the County Ground would be greatly appreciated! I suppose you’re forgiven (well, excused) if you’re from Brighton!
Cheers
Rich<br>
May 16, 2004 at 10:53 #52909Rich – sounds like a damn good filter to me. Good luck with the footy. always had a soft spot for Swindon since the Don Rodgers days 1967 and all that.
May 16, 2004 at 11:52 #52910Rich,
I’m not from Swindon, or Brighton – but I am from Cirencester….so naturally my local allegiances mean I will be supporting the…
Seagulls, Seagulls, Seagulls….
Good luck with the play offs (hope Brighton go easy on ya!)
But even better luck with the nags – you are turning in some great performances
May 16, 2004 at 14:49 #52911Hi RNF .. just thought I’d just nip in and have a word with you about the Massey Ratings before you apply them to your system.
Massey ratings are themselves back fitted and what might be top rated on the day might not be the same horse which appears in his historical results. I found this out myself last year and haven’t bothered with them at all since. It may or may not affect your filters but I just thought it was worth mentioning.ÂÂÂ
Dave.
