    Hello again Chaps.

I shall try to sqeeze this posting in (nothing to do with Ward 7) before the football starts.

Taliking of football, wasn’t it great Germany got beat, nothing against them but it does serve Beckenbauer (the so called Kaiser) right for trying to wind us up about the quality and style of our game, so butt out Beckenbauer!

Back to our beautiful sport of racing, so much more civilised I think.

A couple of points or observations which I feel comfortable with: –

    a) to double or half the stake says

    Dolus

. Perhaps I am splitting hairs here but I prefer to term it as "splitting" the stake. Silly I know but it makes me feel better to view it as such.

    b) now what was it it

    MrE

said, something along the lines of the place part of the e/w stake is a "saver" and I can go along with that and am comfortable thinking of it that way.

So far the Billion pound(s) are placed to win up to the point when it is profitable to split into 2 parts win and saver which sounds good when expressed this way.

I must say both responses are very good and make economical sense but whilst all bets are very much below the £10 threshold in order to place 20/80 I do feel trapped in the each way conundrum.

Win stakes up to 5/1 where the place is paid at 1/4.

Win stakes up to 6/1 where the place is paid at 1/5.

In both e/w parts the original stake is split.

In the case of double figure prices 10/1 and above all stakes are halved.

This in fact came up and bit my bum today (Ward 7 again) with reduced stakes on TREADWELL which won at 14/1 but nevertheless I was still ecstatic at finding such a winner and happy to boost the coffers even if it was not as much as it could have been.

I did say the flesh is weak and the above bets are struck when I am strong but sometimes do err from what I know to be sensible.

First off Billion, let me thank you for resurrecting the Majestic System by Daz…. it appears to be just what it says on the tin…. Majestic…..
As for the staking bit, what you seem to not grasp is the "value" thing…. sorry about this mate, I really ought to start a new thread if we are gonna talk about staking without resorting to maths….. but you say that with those 3 places, you broke even….. jeeeeez, that’s bloody disgusting, you have to be in profit by then or your wasting valuable resources and not using your bank to it’s fullest extent….. a loser in the long run….
On that particular group of runners (3 places) at odds of 1.50…. 1.80…. 2.00…. for the place part of the bets, I would have made a 8pts PROFIT from a 3pt outlay…. that’s an ROI of in excess of 250%….. why the f*** are you only breaking even….. I’d be a millionaire if I could keep that going….. value and staking are paramount, and until you and all the other guys recognise this, it will always be a struggle…. at the end of the day, betting must contain the basic fundamentals, that is that for every risk you take, there must be an adequate return…… the return is what you want it to be, but the aim should NEVER be less than 10% of your investment….. if your returns are any lower than this, your probably a failed bettor and you need to look elsewhere to make your additional income….. unless your only playing for fun….
I really must stop now because I feel that I am progressing way past the fundamentals and that you are only playing the betting as a pastime, where I use betting to release me from the normal financial restraints, so I am probably speaking out of turn and will slide into the background on this subject…..

    ‘morning

    MrE

    ,

Having just got out of bed after twisting and turning throughout worring about Wayne, Steve, Fabio and the boys out there all that way from home and getting booed after the match, which I guess puts my little problem into some sort of perspective.

I have never claimed to want a second or booster income from racing, it has always been the challenge, hobby, passtime but again I say I hate losing even if I do not maximise my profits.

I have a major problem in so much as I do not like big stakes, big to me may be small to others and I do, really do understand ALL you say and go to such lengths to explain and am sure even if I do not convert others will. Sometimes with old geezers the penny takes time to drop, this is not an excuse, so please let me try and explain.

Winner finding was a problem for me and with your help I may have turned that around. You pointed me into a different direction when in fact I had previously been trod a similar path. I experimented with your ideas but as with the unconverted of this world I needed to experiment. All pretty vague stuff but I do owe a huge change in style to you and thank you for it.

Although still early days with such experimental ideas and in truth still at the stage of when others wou would be paper trading and so by way of an explaination and after all you deserve one after all the gems you offer this forum I say again is the reason I am not willing to commit to the larger stakes required for 20/80 staking.

A couple of quid is enough at this stage and at the right price am willing to split to win and saver.

If and when the ideas are proven will be the time to extend staking and then and only then will a more safe and tried staking come into play.

Crickey I have not had my coffee or gone up for the papers and here I am banging on when I should be writing to the FA about how poor the boys were last evening. Dig up poor old Sir Bobby thats what I say.

Hi Bill….. ooohhhh, I felt sick after watching the game last night, so I had a couple of drinks to dull the pain….. what a terrible start to the World Cup, by all teams, not just England…. I really can’t remember any of the early games from other World Cups that were as bad as this one, so many shots missed, so many passes going miles astray…. it makes you wonder whether the complaints about the Jabulani (dunno if that’s spelled right) are correct, how can so many world class players all be crap at the same time….. makes you think…..
As for our racing/staking discussion, you have mentioned before that you don’t take your betting that seriously and that’s fine, as long as you enjoy it….. enjoying a hobby is what it’s all about….. but my answer was really directed at everybody that’s reading this thread, I only addressed you personally because it was your question that I was answering….. I do understand your stance on this thing and it is wise for you to tread carefully and keep those stakes low until your happy….. I’ll get off your thread now and leave it to the Majestic…..

We all have to post somewhere

    MrE

and here is a good a place as any, when we get complaints we can then move on to another place.

Your postings always make such good sense it really does not matter where they are ….

    does it!

Do we have the "Clash of the Titons" or just a "Cat Fight" in ward 7 ? Matron will not be happy – this is not going to be pretty.

    I cannot take the credit

    MrE

, all the plaudits must be given to

    Darrell

who created the system, I only found the clue to it’s exsistence and then you and

    Matron

    blew off the cobwebs.

Yeah, our mate Daz was a good lad….. but it appears that he’s handed the reins over to you Billion, so you do get the credit for bothering to look at the past archives and bringing it back to the forum….. so once again, on behalf of all the old gits reading this…. thanks….

I really do not like the sound of this, as a self committed resident of Ward 7 it is starting to look as if there is no way out, unless you know better and I think it could be a right bummer.

A couple of cups of coffee feel as if they have hit the spot and it looks very much if there is a single selection today.

    3.30 Wolverhampton BUBBLY BELLINI :)

    Dead heat winner 4/1

Only an exchange early price of 9/2 available but it is still a little bit early.

    Hi Billion,
I’m new to this Forum and watching this thread with interest.
    A question if I may.
Why is Capaill Liath in the 7:10 Windsor, for instance not a selection?.
Maiden 2nd last time out 11/4 tissue price in the Racing Post.
The same for Never Can Tell 7:50 Chepstow?.
    Cheers

I’ve just checked and these have not won over the distance. Have I answered my own question?

    Hello

    nedloh

Good of you to enquire, let’s hope I can be of some help.

True Maidens are ignored because they cannot have won and so requires no further comment.

    Darrell’s

original concept was to select the favourite from any given forecast, although he later decided to use the Racing Post.

For myself I am remaining with the daily depression The Mail and am guessing you are looking at a different forecast. Anyway in the Mail 9.20 the fav. is AL JAADI at 4/1 which was 6 LTO and not being a "D" winner the race has been ignored by me.

THE SHUFFLER if Fav. with your chosen forecast is a "D" winner but as you say was 3rd LTO.

If you are looking at a different forecast it will be interesting if you were to post your selections if different from mine and see just how you do.
