Way, way back in September 2003 when MrE was still a young man he posted up a thread about the RACHET plan working with THE MAJESTIC.
I have looked but cannot find any description of said MAJESTIC, so if any person out there knows of it can they please post the details because with such a name it sounds a cut above the norm.

This system is one i devised myself,i entred this system in a comprtition for intheknow magazine.
It won first prize for its simplicity and profitability. Here are the system rules for you to start using.1)ONLY USE NONE HANDICAP RACES.
2)PICK OUT THE HORSE THAT IS 2/1 OR MORE IN THE BETTING FORCAST ANY NEWSPAPER CAN BE USED THE RESULTS WILL NOT VARY MUCH.
3)YOUR SELECTION SHOULD ALSO BE DISTANCE WINNER,BUT THIS IS NOT ESSENTIAL IN MOST RACES.
4)YOUR SELECTION MUST ALSO HAVE BEEN PLACED 1ST 2ND OR 3RD.
This is a very simple system that as been tested on past results, by the above mentioned magazine
try it yourself you will be amazed by the results and strike rate."

June 15, 2010 at 08:48 #300686Good morning Chaps, thanks for the replies.
I will try again with a follow up having lost my WiFi connection here in "Dongleland".
Four simple rules (and I do like simple) but if anyone can clarify the following it could help.
1) Non handicaps only – easy I understand rule 1
2) Pick out any horse 2/1+ in any betting forecast – Could this be just one horse, the one closest to 2/1 or ALL those 2/1+ . . .
mmmmmn!
3) Lets say, MUST be a distance winner – and delete all those not "D" winners from the 2/1+ group.
4) Must be placed 1.2.3 – guesswork here but should this be LTO?
So, looking at a group of 2/1+, remove those not "D" winners and then erase all from the remaining which did not finish 1.2.or 3 LTO.
Does this sound about right?
Applying All the above to the BIG one at R. Ascot today it leaves CANFORD CLIFFS and MAKFI

June 15, 2010 at 09:07 #300693Hi
Matron
,
My archive looks to only go back to page 38 (2002ish) unless there you know better (which I think you do).
Can you explain why so many of the old postings look to be encrypted into gobbledegook.
Billy's Outback Shack
June 15, 2010 at 09:11 #300694Definitely in favour of keeping it simple.
Of course some races may not contain a distance winner and I would imagine that the lower priced selection (if over 2/1 in the betting forecast) would be the sole selection.
This little system may also be profitable in all aged handicaps of up to and including 8 runners.Powered by Linux
June 15, 2010 at 09:49 #300703Billion,
You, can only go back to Page: 38 – as well as myself.
I just managed to find it going through Darrell’s posts. (I do remember the "Majestic" as I think it was one of his first posts on "TRF".)
The "TRF" servers have been changed a few times over the years – as well as software upgrades – and unfortunately some the data has not imported well.

Looking back Darrell made a posting saying the system hit the buffers as so many systems do following a profitable run.
Why oh why does this happen, but it does and is what makes this sport so challenging.
I have been applying a very simple filter of late with some success and could well act as either as an extra or as a breaker to find a single selection in a similar way that you suggest.
Before laying your hard earned simply check if either selection (or as a check for any sole selection) has previously won at the grade of the considered race.
Canford Cliffs & Makfi both have Gp 1 wins (is it worth dutching?)

June 15, 2010 at 10:23 #300715Still trying to make sense of
The Majestic
and with some good racing at R. Ascot today I have gone through the card with Daily Mail betting forecast.
2.30 Paco Boy 1 LTO "D" forecast 11/4 (Goldikova looks to be the other option but forecast 7/4 it does not qualify although both Calming Influence and Dalghar can be nominated).
3.05 Nicconi at 3/1 was closest to 2/1 has a big ZERO LTO, next up at 7/2 is Kingsgate Native (Equiano 8/1 and Master Manannan can also be nominated)
3.50 Canford Cliffs and Kakfi cannot be split although Canford Cliffs is closest to 2/1
4.25 Strong Suit should get the nomination at 11/4 with "D" and 1LTO but not at this level.

June 15, 2010 at 11:54 #300750Thanks Daz, I knew that you would still be awake and having fun with Matron….. it’s been 7 years and things haven’t changed much…. Matrons got a spanking new office (and I use the word "spanking" with due deference) and that two way mirror that he had installed at personal expense, is a real innovation…… I hope all is well with you my friend, and thanks for confirming the "Majestic" rules…..

Daz
,
Thanks for the reply and you have taken the guesswork away.
You did say all those years ago the system was profitable for a while and then as so many systems do hit a brick wall, have you any idea why?
I have suggested any nomination must have won at the present race class (only to try and break the "brick wall" syndrome) which does cross out Strong Suit and then Metroploitan Man in the Mail was only 13/8, Mail though I guess you have taken your price from RP.
I shall be watching all afternoon with interest.

June 15, 2010 at 12:56 #300772Thanks, Billion…I’ve been too busy today to check things out but I note that there are now 7 runners in the 9.00 Brighton making Piazza San Petro a selection.
The 10 year favourite record in the Mail is very useful…Interesting to note that no favourite has won the Queen Anne for at least 10 years so where does that leave Goldikova?
