on a side note(people) who would you be with if Zabeel Prince met Addeybb on good ground at levels?
That’s a tricky call. If for no other reason than both have recorded their best mark on soft.
I did Zabeel Prince in the Balmoral last year but he ran well below his rating in 11th place,as Lord Glitters came to mow them all down for the win.
Both horses are on identical marks of 109 on official ratings now. Addeybb went up 10 lbs and Zabeel Prince 3 lbs for Saturday’s wins. They have the same record of 4 wins from 6 starts. Both horses have only raced on good ground once in their careers and they clocked similar times on Saturday, with Addeybb carrying 2 lbs more.
In the end I would see the only real difference is Addeybb being a year younger and that is enough to sway me towards him. I think the younger horse is more likely to improve that bit further and at 5YO it is hard to visualise a lot of improvement in a Flat horse.
Addeybb is 12/1 for the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot, the same odds as Le Brivido and I reckon that’s poor value so close to a Lincoln win. A more sensible option would be trying a Group 3 for starters and work towards higher races if good enough. Going Group 1 too early would be a mistake I feel.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
