I know very little about flat racing so I wouldn’t pay too much heed to what I say but surely Bravery off a 5lb lower mark than last year has a decent chance of making it two in a row
March 23, 2018 at 21:10 #1347870Glad that David O’Meara has allowed Lord Glitters to take his chance in this and he is has always been my number one selection and took a chance at 14/1 early on for him to win this.
My second choice tomorrow has to be Addeybb who showed fantastic turn of foot to beat Afaak (who would have been my outside choice if he had got in) and Fire Brigade at Newmarket. Addeybb has also finished in front of Grey Britain (4th) when running 3rd at Goodwood and Kings Gift (11th) when he was the chosen mount of Ryan Moore. Tomorrow he is ridden by James Doyle and it could turn out that Ryan Moore has chosen the wrong horse in chosing to jump off Addeybb in favour of Fire Brigade.
Wish I could have sorted out a longer price runner but couldn’t see further than these two.
Lord Glitters – Win
Addeybb- WinReverse Forecast
Good luck for the start of the flat
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...March 23, 2018 at 21:16 #1347872I’m with Charles and Kev on Ballard Down for this. Last seen beating Master Carpenter easily on soft ground (who then won the Betfred Mile next time out at Goodwood, soft).
Quote from trainer William Knight:
“This has been the target for a while and his preparation has gone to plan. A flat, straight mile will suit and conditions underfoot will be in his favour. There’s a big performance in him.”
12/1 6 places.
The stat regarding winners from big weights is enough to put me off Lord Glitters and I don’t think Fire Brigade/Addeybb deserve to be as short as they are. Afaak split both of them in the Silver Cambridgeshire but was comfortably beaten by Lincoln runner Leader Writer beforehand. Progression aside, I don’t think there’s enough on form for either to win. Oh how wrong I could be
March 23, 2018 at 21:18 #1347873I don’t think Moore has jumped off of it Triptych. Haggas now has an informal agreement with Doyle since Feb, for Doyle to ride his horses this season. I think a lot has been made of Moore ‘choosing’ Fire Brigade (Doyle rode FB when Moore was on Addeyebb)… When it’s a more a case of he (Moore) lost out on the ride, after this agreement between Haggas & Doyle.
March 23, 2018 at 21:39 #1347876Thanks Nausered, I didn’t know that.
Pleased to hear that James Doyle will be riding for William Haggas this season he has a really good chance to get the partnership off to a winning start.I do think a lot of punters just dive in on the horses that Ryan Moore rides but whatever happens there is going to be a lot of pace in the race and can’t wait for it all to kick off.
It is a big ask for Lord Glitters to carry that big weight home Chivers and his price is very skinny along with Addeybb but have everything crossed that they will run a big race and my old dad used to say top weight is the best in the race…please let him be right.
Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...March 23, 2018 at 23:34 #1347887Ballard Down was on my shortlist for this but he was clouted with a 9 lbs rise for his last win, making him 18 lbs higher than his starting mark last March.
Bravery had box 20 last year but is way over in trap 1 this time.
Good luck to all.
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.

March 24, 2018 at 10:09 #1347924Fire Brigade seems weak today. He’s out 7/1 after being 5/1 earlier. Addeybb is as low as 4/1 and that’s skinny when you think he was 12/1 and done nothing to warrant being a third of those odds, other than turning up.
Haggas is on a 67% strike rate but it’s a tad misleading, being 2/3 and both winners were odds-on
Thanks for the good crack. Time for me to move on. Be lucky.
March 24, 2018 at 10:51 #1347929Going to war with Lord Glitters, Dark Red and Ballard Down.
Good luck with any you may have!
March 24, 2018 at 11:32 #1347937@Steve
Which two horses would have your money in this one Steve or will you sit it out?
Good informative reporting on the race but which would you back this afternoon if any? JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...March 24, 2018 at 12:46 #1347954Pretty happy with the ante-post bets this year (much better than the no-shows 12 months ago) being on Ballard Down at 33s and Hayadh at 100s. Obviously it’s open and many have solid chance so but I’ll only add Fire Brigade at 7s who looks to have everything in his favour and I don’t intend to be caught out. Fire Brigade 7/1, Ballard Down 33/1 & Hayadh 100/1 e/w
March 24, 2018 at 12:48 #1347956Also picked out 2 in the Spring Mile to put in doubles with 2 here (Orignial Choice & What’s The Story – Fire Brigade & Leader Writer).
March 24, 2018 at 13:40 #1347976Good luck Charles…
Have Taqdeer, Tabarrak and Lord Glitters/Addeybb in a combi patent..
fingers crossed as the flat kicks off.
