I’ve just caught with the Thread.

I too liked Ghost’s little ditty it was amusing and original and should have made the Final sorry it didnt Ghost. :rose:

Glad you confirmed no animals harmed in Rummys clip Graham :good: I think Nathan (Tarzan) should put in for a world record swim across the English Channel the speed his arms were going.

That Crocodile had been eating too many biscuits and it’s rumoured he’s joined Slimming World and signed himself up for their new Withering A- Weigh diet. B-) Jac

Many thanks for the comments BigG, IanDavies and Triptych :good:
Would’ve been nice to have made the final but it’s all water under the bridge now. Mind you, I’ve left my entry wide open for a possible sequel.

Triptych is always a consistent, hard-as-nails competitor in this event. Her poem is fab. Therefore, it gets my vote 😊

Being a Dark Angel fan The Silver Army way back in 2015 was and still is my most favourite poem and I’m sure it didn’t win but I’m just glad I wrote it… :mail:

    Big G says

No crocodiles were harmed in the making of this film

Not so sure on that, Graham.

The clip is from the 1930’s so the disclaimer that, it may contain outdated cultural depictions applies.
Johnny Weissmuller was an Olympic swimmer in the 1920’s. He played Tarzan in the 1930’s. His yell heard in the clip, is used in every movie about Tarzan ever since, and for me he is the definitive Tarzan on the silver screen.

You've got to accentuate the positive.
    Eliminate the negative.
    Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.

Chezza the crocodile, spot on Rummy…
Rest assured I would never harm Chezza.. Um the crocodile deliberately however, I’m quite clumsy at times and have pointed elbows.. :rose:

Typical underhanded Hughesey nastiness, knifing Chezza with an affable smile.

This is what the much-maligned Chezza is up against – a smiling assassin AND now the Boudica of poetry, who’s already stormed into an unassailable lead!

Where’s the justice, Chezza asks you, where’s the justice?

    Triptych?

    Shergar, more like!

I can hear Peter Bromley shouting: “you need a telescope to see the rest!”

    This is a rout!

Has anyone ever lost a 7-1 lead in forum poll voting history?

If Triptych’s lead was depicted by a horse race it would look something like this.

You've got to accentuate the positive.
    Eliminate the negative.
    Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.

Every year it seems a dog reaches the Greyhound Derby final but goes off a 33/1 outsider and its connections say it felt like winning just to reach the final.

I sort of feel like that.

I’d be proud to be either of those horses Ian and Rummy (Great Video) I have that film, must watch it again.
However I’m proud to remain as Triptych as she could produce a blistering finish and show the boys a clean pair of heels. :good:

But I’m not celebrating until a minute past midnight on 18th Feb because we all know what happened to Neil Kinnock in his famous ‘victory’ speech in Sheffield 1992.

However, having said that a quick canter and kick of heels around the Thread might not be noticed.. :yahoo:

It’s not over yet so everything is well
and truly crossed and finally to all us budding poets on this Thread in the words of young Mr.Grace…

    Jac x

I’ve already given my vote, but hope marginal value and CAS gets a vote, too. You can feel so left out when people overlook you. :good:

Still as Kenny used to say

You've got to accentuate the positive.
    Eliminate the negative.
    Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.

“I’m not celebrating until a minute past midnight on 18th Feb”
“The voting will end Saturday 18th February at 10:20am”

I’m not sure if you will be celebrating early or late…
    yellow card for the confusion
two yellow cards and you get a 2 year TRF Poet of the year ban. :mail:

“we all know what happened to Neil Kinnock in his famous ‘victory’ speech in Sheffield 1992.”

    I remember it well!

You are wise to decline to risk emulating such premature triumphalism.
