ZakocityMarch 9, 2008 at 14:09 #149244The DWC: Curlin too win this horse has ben working with Pyro, Steve Asmusens best thre yearold who has hacked up in a air of graded stakes races at the fair grounds in the last month and ids heading towards being the favourate for the kentucky derby. Jalil too be placed ( this horses full brother, aftermarket didnt win a grade one till he was four, then he peiceaded too masicare the best horses on turf over a mile too ten furlongs on the lighting fast tracks in california), this tom cat can run like a scalded cat….
Sheema classic:
Youmzain has a goo shout, but Better Talk Now could be massive value on a track that suits his running style.Dubai Duty Free:
Ramonti or Lingari should take this with Lord Admiral too be placed.Dubai Golden Shaheen:
The race will be run like a bolt of lighting with the likes of Jonny Eves, Idiot Proof and Barbecue Eddie who all front run.
that son of kingmambo owned by Boursley racing whpse name escapes me for a place.
Diabolical for the win, though Benny the Bull is a livley outsider given his grade one win last autumn at Laurel.UAE Derby:
If you could get rid of the southern hemismphere breds i would fancy Etched too be Siberian Tiger.
I think Darjina and Finsceal Beo have been retired.March 9, 2008 at 14:10 #149245The DWC: Curlin too win this horse has ben working with Pyro, Steve Asmusens best thre yearold who has hacked up in a air of graded stakes races at the fair grounds in the last month and ids heading towards being the favourate for the kentucky derby. I think Darjina and Finsceal Beo have been retired.March 9, 2008 at 16:06 #149265Regarding the World Cup is has to be Curlin as he is the best 1m2f horse in the world by none and Asiatic Boy as a possibility for the forecast.
Kandidate would have a chance if the race was transfered to Kempton but cant see that somehow happening.
March 9, 2008 at 21:15 #149332Yorkshirepudding, neither Darjina nor Finsceal Beo have been retired and Dubai is still a strong possibility.
March 9, 2008 at 22:10 #149346You sure Finsceal Beo hasnt? I remember reading last autumn she was retired after failing to hit the hights of her early season form?
March 10, 2008 at 00:27 #149372I hope Darjina runs in the Duty Free. I think she will bolt in. Superb run in the Hong Kong Mile and barring any traffic, she should have won!
March 11, 2008 at 22:32 #149930Awesome Gem, Champs Elysees and Student Council – all whom competed in the Santa Anita Handicap – will not be participating in the Dubai World Cup meeting.
I am still unsure about Literato for Godolphin as Jalil and Happy Boy are a strong duo in itself for the boys in blue. He is still in the markets at 16/1 with Coral.
Daiwa Scarlet is not in the Coral market but is in Will Hill’s. However, the latter also have Joe Louis listed and he has already been confirmed a few weeks ago as not to be running in the Dubai World Cup.
The Dubai World Cup looks like being formed to be this:
Curlin
Happy Boy
Jalil
Asiatic Boy
Vermillion
Well Armed
Lucky Find
Latency
KandidateMarch 12, 2008 at 01:01 #149988From Japan the following five horses will start in Dubai; they’ll leave for Dubai on 15 and 22 March:
1. Vermilion, 6yo, Elcondo Pasa x Scarlet Lady (Sunday Silence)—>WORLD CUP
2. Vodka, 4yo, Tanino Gimlet x Tanino Sister (Rousillon)—>DUTY FREE
3. Admire Aura, 4yo, Agnes Tachyon x Biwa Heidi—->DUTY FREE
4. Agnes Jedi, 6yo, Agnes World x Lucky Pisces (Crafty Prospector)—> GOLDEN SHAHEEN
5. Iide Kenshin, 3yo, Thunder Gulch x Heavenly Advice (Theatrical)—->UAE DERBYMarch 12, 2008 at 02:17 #149993I forgot about Admire Aura! Silly, silly me. The same connections want more glory if I can recall.
Where is Meisho Samson? His Dubai Sheema Classic trip was on the cards following the Arima Kinen.
Thankyou very much for this update!
March 12, 2008 at 04:05 #149994Meisho Samson, 5yo, Opera House x My Vivien (Dancing Brave), called it off . The reason is a bit complicated.
First of all, his main target this season is a campaign in Europe; his connections have had a plan to stay there for a few months with the Arc his main target. Unfortunately, he couldn’t go out of Japan last year, because of the outbreak of EI. So, all the more this year, they have a desire to put the plan into practice.
Sadly, the epidemic has recurred, just after the announcement of his entry to the Sheema Classic, around the main training facilities in Japan at one of which the colt has had regular workouts.
A UAE quarantine rule for all the Dubai-bound Japanese horses demands the Opera House’s son should stay at infection-free facilities at least 3 weeks before the departure, which means he couldn’t be trained as usual using uphill woodchips courses in the infected training centre.
So his connections had no option but to stay at an international quarantine stable in Kyoto for about a month, accepting a limited, light workout regimen. That was obviously bad news; see Dylan Thomas’s bad shape in the Hong Kong Vase who had been locked in a similar quarantine facility before and after the Japan Cup.
Then came the last straw: Dubai-bound Japanese horses couldn’t charter a direct flight to the venue; they should take a longer trip via Hong Kong. For Samson, that’s enough. For almost the same reason, Matsurida Gogh cancelled it.
Anyway, competing in European G1s is his main objective this year. Also, he will stay there longer than Deep Impact in ’06, because he has no reason– or I should say ‘obligation’ as opposed to the latter– to go back to Japan within 2 months.
(*) Instead of Dubai, Samson may be pointed to the QII Cup in Hong Kong on 27 April, a recent report says.
March 12, 2008 at 04:42 #149997Much appreciated Uma.
This current epidemic – similar to the outbreak of last year? On what scale can it be compared to 2007?
March 12, 2008 at 05:15 #149999A minor, local, sporadic recurrence, I would say, but certainly it lingers.
The other Dubai-bound Japanese horses won’t be well-prepared for the graded international races.
March 13, 2008 at 01:17 #150435Grade I winner Great Hunter will join the Dubai World Cup cast for trainer Doug O’Neill.
He was reported in the Racing Post to join A.P. Arrow and Well Armed for the race today. Of course – I knew about the two just mentioned a few weeks ago. Who needs RP???
Anyway – I can recall that Great Hunter was indeed my top selection for the 2007 Kentucky Derby after a performance which caught my eye in the Toyota Bluegrass Stakes, even though he finished 5th of 7.
He won his Grade I in the Lane’s End Breeders’ Futurity as a 2YO at Keeneland. Following a poor thirteenth in the Derby he was laid off until Boxing Day last year and has raced four times in this current campaign – beaten approx. 26 lengths in total.
Potential is there but … who knows?
March 13, 2008 at 20:39 #150661I know your all excited about the DWC in the same way us over here a mad about the Cheltenham Festival but watch this and feel the excitement.
March 13, 2008 at 22:02 #150694I watched some of Tuesday’s Cheltenham festival on YouTube, Neil.
Needless to say – you folks are converting me.
March 13, 2008 at 23:41 #150736Godolphin’s team is now being assembled for the Dubai World Cup night – and is highlighted by a three-strong attack on the Dubai Duty Free.
Ramonti, however, may be a doubtful runner after suffering a leg infection which has caused a few days lost in training for the Duty Free. The boys in blue still have Creachadoir and West Wind as major contenders for the race.
Literato joins Gravitas in the Dubai Sheema Classic.
