I was wondering if the curragh training grounds are similar to lambourn in the sense is it like a racing village. I have been to lambourn a few times and some trainers are right next to each other then you might have a couple of trainers up the road and a few more dotted about around each other. Is the curragh like that? I would love to go racing in ireland and I know there a lot of trainers in county kildare where the curragh is and I think punchestown and nass racecourses are in kildare aswell. I was just wondering how close all those trainers are to each other. One last question do the irish trainers let you visit there stables? it would be great to visit people like Dessie Hughes and Ted Walsh and any other trainers based in the curragh/kildare area. Can you visit any of their stables?

    Thanks

No, Curragh is not anything like Lambourn.
Trainers are spread very widely, even in Kildare.
Suggest you contact the Irish Trainers Association for details of visits. They have a download of all trainer locations

The Irish National Stud is in Kildare and well worth a visit.

No, curragh isn’t a village like lambourn it is spread out.

I can’t recommend going racing in Ireland enough. I assume from your name you live near Birmingham airport – good flights with aer lingus are about £120?return with luggage and seat reservation and taxes . Literally hundreds of places to stay in the dublin area and the racing at curragh and leopardstown is very enjoyable. They are nice venues, the viewing is good and the prices are reasonable eg Irish champions day £18 ascot champions day £50!

If you visit in spring/summer eg guineas weekend take in in Irish national stud, lovely place to visit

Point to point trainers everywhere Solihull, spread out across the country. If I had to recommend one meeting to come over for it would be the Christmas festival at Leopardstown.

The trainers link I gave includes them – they are very widespread.
