    My ex sent me a text saying great race and resuklt, my response was too ask that the result was that nobody drowned or boats sank. :twisted:

    Now this is a bit of a waste of time as a sport and as a spectacle. Does anyone actually watch it?

    Errm, actually it’s a real ratings puller – 7.8 million watched last year, higher than just about any other sporting event – much higher than any live Olympic sports.

    The question posed was what is the longest race run under Jockey Club Rules.

    Naturally i said Grand National to this work colleague who told it to me but then he said it was the Boat Race.

    The Boat race distance is 4m 374 yards, so it’s shorter than the Grand National anyway!
