UpInClass Racing Forum (USA)March 3, 2011 at 21:48 #343163What’s your take on this one Dell?
March 4, 2011 at 00:08 #343184John Sadler holds all the aces with the two top jockeys.
Gladding gets Bejarano. Twirling Candy and Joel Rosario
team up again as favorite. Twirling Candy is an amazing animal.
Bob Baffert is sending out 4 runners, trying for the upset.
The horse I am considering is the Mandella trained Setsuko.
He won’t be a money burner anymore if he wins the big ‘cap.
Served notice with the most recent work… intriguing @ a price.March 4, 2011 at 22:57 #343272Twirling Candy is leagues ahead of the others, but he’ll be at a very very short price.
March 5, 2011 at 02:37 #343294Twirling Candy best horse in America, only question is 10f distance. TC has two wins and a 4th at 9f. TC’s latest 9f win in the Strub Stakes at Santa Anita looked pretty easy and should be the perfect prep race for the SA Hcp, AKA the "Big Cap". If you can get better than even money it’s a good bet but more likely to be 3/5 at race time.

winning the Malibu Stakes by a nose.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0jrC-KHZUMAzucar had a very interesting career. He went the opposite direction of most horses. He was born in Ireland, won multiple stakes races at 2 and 3 in England, then was sent to the US to be a steeplechaser. As a 4yo, 5yo, and 6yo he was among the top jumpers in the country. It wasn’t until age 7 that he turned to the dirt, winning major handicaps in the Midwest and in California. Azucar kept racing in top company until age 10.
March 6, 2011 at 02:16 #343441Twirling Candy may not be a 10f horse as he appeared to tire in the stretch, but he had a very rough trip and was bumped several times between horses. Stewards ruled that TC initiated the contact and made no change in the order of finish. If you can find a YouTube video with a head on shot it’s a pretty wild bumping contest. Right now Thoroughbred Times has a video up, including a head on view of the stretch run.
March 6, 2011 at 03:04 #343443Another good video with a head on shot of the bumping (click VIDEO link in story). Looks like it all started when Twirling Candy came out and bumped Setsuko (2nd place finisher), then TC veered in and hit the flank of Game On Dude (winner). SA Hcp AKA Santa Anita Rodeo.

March 6, 2011 at 12:14 #343477Badactor – Congrats on the Setsuko score, massive show payoffs with the 1/2 favorite Twirling Candy finishing out of the money. Following are some trackside videos of horses connections sweating out the inquiry, wildly happy and unhappy people after the decision;
