Having watchen Kieren Fallon and Gerald Mosse riding at Newmarket and Mosse again and Frankie Dettori at Woodbine today I wondered are they a better generation of jockeys(all in their forthies!),than the present generation?
October 14, 2012 at 23:34 #416774I don’t think it will be possible to answer that question until twenty years from now, when most of the current generation of riders have retired.
Many of the new crop haven’t yet had the opportunities to showcase their talents that Dettori, Fallon, Mosse et al have enjoyed.
October 14, 2012 at 23:44 #416777I must say that I think William Buick is an absolute class act. All being well, I can see him being described as legendary in 15-20 years time.
Mickael Barzalona isn’t bad either.

I have no life experience in this department, however they’re the two I was thinking when I read the thread. I’d imagine both will be held in this bracket before long.
October 15, 2012 at 01:45 #416792Who can be compared now to the named ones ? Who of the younger generation could ride a Cesarewitch like Fallon did on Saturday who could ride like Frankie did yesterday?Like Gerald Mosse on Reckless Abandon? Sometimes we forget how good these men are because trainers are reluctant to use older jockeys.
