The trainer had always said it was a little touch and go and thats why i got 16’s
I have no problems at all with MT.
September 25, 2006 at 15:16 #77841Trainer said it was touch and go due to the ground etc….not because he was recovering from an injury. Pretty sure if people knew that it would have put plenty of people off from backing the horse.

Would you be happy to know that the trainer all this time did not mention this injury if indeed this was the reason he was humming and hawwing about running or not?
Of course if it happened this morning there is no problem at all…
They did inform people already that he would certainly not run on very firm or very soft ground.
Oddly enough, I have a dream that he would miss the arc the other night. Wish I had slept long enough to find out what won it.

Whatever the reason, he was never a confirmed runner (and after such along break it could have been a tall order anyway) and we know the risks of ante post
This is not Richard Fahey we are dealing with here
I know which one I’d rather deal with.

Welcome to the rollercoaster Aragorn!
September 25, 2006 at 16:02 #77846Hope i’m wrong, but i get the feeling we’ll not see Sir Percy again, which as with any horse (more so the decent ones) would be a shame
September 25, 2006 at 16:11 #77847I have always said that sir percy will be a better horse at 1m2f and so im glad that they have decided to stop chasing a pipe dream.
Sir percy to win the champion stakes has to be the cert of the season imho.
September 25, 2006 at 16:14 #77848Sir Percy is a bit like Haley’s comet, you know he exists but it takes bloody years before you get to see him. :(
I was convinced he’d win the Arc.
Whats the betting he fails to run in the Champion Stakes as well?
September 25, 2006 at 16:17 #77849I think he’ll go nto the champion and win it, i thought sir percy would get pulled by the way tregoning was talking the other day on bbc.
September 25, 2006 at 16:26 #77850I’ve had better Mondays. After reading The Sportsman this morning, I topped up my AP bets at 14’s with Ladbrokes.
Let’s hope the horse recovers Mid October. They won’t risk him unless he’s 100%.
September 25, 2006 at 16:33 #77851I reckon sir percy could win the champion stakes without even being 100%. I think that all of the hype and publicity about sir percys arc attempt has done tregonings stable no harm, but i think he’s alwaysbeen a champion stakes horse and i think i’ll attempt to capitalise on all the speculation of injury in the betting.
I know how you feel max. In the run up to the oaks i was following a horse called galatee, two days before she got a great report from bolger and i lumped £150 on her, 6 hours later she was pulled out. I was gutted
September 25, 2006 at 16:42 #77852I’d rather back a tailed off animal, Bulwark. It’s a depressing feeling losing your dough without a run as you experienced yourself. Had a substantial bet for me too after Victoria Pakerhams comments this morning.
I disagree with your analysis (Arc vs Champion), but now I hope you’re right.

And she hasnt been seen since either…has she?? SHe had real potential.
My tale of woe is Sir Rembrandt in the national. Backed him hours before he got pulled and frankly that completely finishes me with Ap betting.

September 25, 2006 at 17:14 #77855Its sickening having an antepost non runner so i mainly just do antepost for fun if i see a good horse at big value. And with the odd exception i seldom lump big amounts on it.
Galatee was entered (along with smart irish 1,000 guineas winner Nightime) for the group2 1m2f event won by red bloom last week, weheras they didnt run its possible a comeback is on its way. fingers crossed.
I reckon that if the champion stakes betting is ratings based (as it often is) that sir percy could be a value bet, he has about 8lbs to find on dylan thomas and ouija board (i personally dont rate the irish champion form as highly as that). Sir percys cruising speed should be perfect for 1m2f and he has a far sharper turn of foot than ouija board (or dylan thomas if he runs) i think he’ll absolutely route the opposition.
September 25, 2006 at 18:10 #77856Dylan Thomas won’t run, he’s off to the States for a BC Classic prep.
Given the likely field, I’d be quite disappointed if SP couldn’t win the Champion Stakes (barring injury, obv).
