can you remember Chapel Hyam throwing his binoculars on the ground after his ride on White Muzzle in the arc??
That said, with this many runners, he will get a run and I dont think we will be blaming him in the event of defeat.

October 1, 2006 at 15:39 #3084Well, what a strange race that was, funny pace, funny race.
October 1, 2006 at 15:42 #78473I had that feeling that there would be a bit of anti-climax. Victory for Stats and a progressive horse but I didnt think he was good enough to win the arc that everybody thought this would be. The Mare ran well.

October 1, 2006 at 15:44 #78474I’m almost certain Sir Percy would’ve won the race had he run.
October 1, 2006 at 15:45 #78475Would Pride have won had she been kept even slightly closer to the pace?
She seemed a long way back early in the race.

October 1, 2006 at 15:47 #78477that french twat cost pride the race
October 1, 2006 at 15:48 #78478As big as RL was on the PM, I couldn’t see past the first three. I never bet on it, just watched. In hindsight, I wish i’d dutched the outsiders on the PM. I can live with it.
October 1, 2006 at 15:49 #78479Pride is that type of horse though, ran similarly in the trial.
I’ve been saying all season how good this crop of three year olds are.
October 1, 2006 at 15:52 #78480It was a funny race. I think if it was run again tomorrow you’d see a different result. Nothing against rail Link who is obviously extremely talented but an odd race, as was always on the cards with such a small field.
Whilst this years Arc had some good horses in it I think it was a fairly poor renewal and the race was definitely weakened by the absense of some of the top three year olds. Add Sir Percy, Dylan Thomas, Alexandrova and Mandesha to the field and it would’ve been a cracker and a much stronger renewal.
I agree with Cormack, run the same race tomorrow and you’d probably get a different result probably a Shirocco win who for some reason today just didn’t run his race.
October 1, 2006 at 16:11 #78484Agree with fellow posters that it was a strange sort of race and you could run it again and get a different result.
Scirroco and Hurricane Run basically failed to show and Sixties Icon the first beaten which does little for the image of the Leger.
Pride was set plenty to do but ran its trial like that so perhaps just runs that way.
Race fell the way of a speed horse from the favoured generation.
Good to see a genuine owner-breeder operation win as opposed to the "I’ll buy yours" Chelsea FC type merchants
Agreed.
Race didn’t suit Sixties Icon any more than it suited Hurricane Run in my opinion. Was always going to be difficult for Sixties Icon though in any case. He’s not a group one horse over twelve furlongs in my opinion.
October 1, 2006 at 16:31 #73656Doh just missed out on the forecast ;)
October 1, 2006 at 16:54 #78486I didn’t fancy Sixties Icon at all. Absolutely not in the same league as today’s rivals. Shirocco was very dissapointing. It’s as if Rail Link was Mr Fabre’s first string or something, based on that running. If that was the case, i’d have been tempted to mop up as much of those tasty french odds as possible had I been Mr Fabre :shhh:
