Caught a bit of John Fogarty. Apparently he’s only just got the rights to his songs back. Some great songs too.

Gary Numan said the comments he made about Mrs Thatcher were a millstone around his neck within the industry for a while. Nowadays he avoids political comment.

Ideally, I think someone of his stature should have been on at least the Other stage but perhaps he asked for a smaller site?

He seems an unlikely subject to appear in “Hello” magazine but he did. Two of his daughters appeared on stage with him yesterday.

Fun fact: Gary Numan is 13 days older than Gary Oldman!

We’ll be hearing lots about this attack on free speech by the thought police from the usual sources, right? Right?

I quite agree but the point is you either think these things are ok or you don’t and whilst I wouldn’t even mention politics in public if I was famous, performers are entitled to do so. Plenty of outrage about people being ‘locked up for tweets’ from people who I’m guessing are going to go quiet now. Similarly if you do agree with people being ‘locked up for tweets’ then maybe you should agree with this and I’ve no doubt some of those will go quiet too.

Something of a Streisand Effect going on too, almost nobody would have even have heard about this if it didn’t keep getting amplified by the outrage.

I watched a little of Neil Young: ‘Sugar Mountain’ and ‘Cinnamon Girl’ (a fav of mine) but, as ever, disliked the wistful sight and sound of an old songster struggling to reprise the toons of a young songster, so switched off.

As for the bloke in Bob Vylan: he’s just a very silly boy who requires no more than a stiff reminder of the laws covering Incitement. Though I’m sure he’d rather be charged with an offence and become a ‘martyr to the cause’, like the equally silly Kneecap.

    “Free, free Palestine”
    “death, death to the IDF”

    Wow, what perceptive poetry

Calling for anyone’s death on live TV is unwise to say the least. Bloke is an idiot. Kneecap were more careful and put on a good show (albeit I won’t be buying the album..). It’s finally up on IPlayer now. Clearly the BBC lawyers are fine with it so don’t know what Somerset police are getting their knickers in a twist about. Perhaps there’s not a lot of crime during the festival…

Shaboozey is wonderful. I’m going to be buying an awful lot of new music after this weekend. Charli was awful. Maybe I’m just old but imo walking about on stage in a leather bikini twerking and saying **** a lot is boring. Gave up after a few minutes.

My last visit to Glastonbury was in the infamous mud year of 1997 I think it was and to be the Prodigy were wonderful :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: So was ray Davies and to be honest I can’t remember anyone else but at the age of 35 I decided maybe a little prematurely my festival days were over and nothing I have seen at Glasto on the tv since has changed my mind LOL

I did attempt to watch a bit last night on tv but CharlieXCX was abominable and Neil Young was just sad to watch and I am totally ready for the backlash regarding Neil Young

It is a difficult question but it should be realised this act (whoever they are) called for people (specifically Jews) to be killed. That is not something anyone should be defending. It was also highly irresponsible of the BBC to broadcast it. I doubt Glastonbury is broadcast genuinely live and the BBC could have muted the sound had it wanted to but didn’t.

Having said that, I am not convinced the police should be getting involved in this particular case. I don’t believe anyone should be arrested for expressing an opinion verbally or in writing unless there is very clear evidence of incitement. And I don’t think anyone should be serving a 31 month sentence for a tweet.

Having seen the pictures of Charli whoever she is, I can’t help feeling it would be a lot more daring for a young female singer to appear on stage properly dressed. ;-)

Some actual singing would be an idea for a singer too, she didn’t even try to conceal the miming. Everyone seemed to be enjoying it but it was awful for TV.

I posted a Dennis Pennis clip not so long ago, your comment reminds me of this classic:

Good old Dennis. I doubt he would get away with it today, which is a pity. A lot of these self important celebrities could do with being shown up.

The hidden camera/gotcha type stuff would be very difficult when 99% of people can pull a video camera out of their pocket and start recording in five seconds flat.

Looking forward to The Prodigy later, I’ve not seen what they are like post Flint. He was one of a kind, big shoes to fill.

Liked dressage did Keith I believe. I missed GOAT who were live on Facebook at 5. I thought they were on at 7. And I’ve been locked out of my Facebook account anyway.
