Another top quality NH card today starting off with a 66/1 shot aptly named ‘She’s no Muppet’ routing a field of horses sacked from banded AW racing for being too slow and unable to win and ending with a 25/1 winner in a pointless jumps race without jumps scheduled only for public schooling.
I’ve almost missed this rubbish, bring on the next cold snap.

I thrive on it!
I’ll stick to my jumping, you stick to your beach racing and we are all happy.
Now where’s that list of runners for the 0-85 Handicap Chase? Lowly handicap chases, mmmmm!

Dont worry, First day of the Arab Sports Day begins tomorrow.
January 15, 2009 at 00:35 #203992Bring on a good movie and forget racing until the weather improves. Wouldn’t give you 10p for the jumps just now and would want you to pay me to watch AW racing

You could always go point to pointing Fist. I am reliably informed that a great day out is to be had at Sherrif Hutton on Sunday and Jeremy will agree that you could do a lot worse than visit Detling (I have to miss this meeting but the day after the Gold Cup is the Kent Grand National – hope I don’t need the waterproofs).
January 15, 2009 at 08:21 #204037Air Flights are a bit expensive mate I live in Asia these days
.Have to agree though.
P2P’s are a fantastic way to get up close and personal for anyone who wants to spend the cash. Don’t need to be Ap McCoy to ride in them either
January 15, 2009 at 14:04 #204045There was a horse at Kempton last night that looked more suited to NH in Germany. Launched itself through the fence then jumped into the pond… can’t blame the poor animal…..that sand must sting a bit.

Indeedy, Bob, though I’ve now been re-routed from Detling to Ampton to do the race-reading there.
Still yet to visit Detling, then, but at least Ampton has a commentary box to hide in – Ystradowen and Bonvilston please take note!

Anyone toying with the idea of going to Sherrif Hutton, by the way – do go. It’s only their second meeting ever, but the course was showered with praise for its facilities, access and viewing last year and it looks a very, very worthwhile addition to the pointing world. Familiar names such as Sonevafushi, Lou Du Moulin Mas, Glenelly Gale, Always Right, Pass It On and Holy Joe look set to line up this time around.

Obviously thought that if it’s good enough for Fiepes Shuffle et al, it’s good enough for him.
How fantastic would a Seejagdrennen at Kempton be, though. Could get the guys at SIS Germany to call it, or invite Manfred Chapman over. Hey, better still, get them to go through the lake, and then pop over a few hurdles on the Polytrack, like they do at Honzrath.
Darren! I think I’ve just framed a new race for your mate Christian!

January 15, 2009 at 23:47 #204157I am hoping to be at a Point next Sunday.
Forgot which Hunt but its the one being held at Bangor on the inner turf going left handed.
January 16, 2009 at 14:47 #204283It’s the Albrighton Hunt, Neil.
This is a bonus meeting for Bangor PTP, as it is usually held at Weston Park in Staffordshire. However, the ground there has become so compacted from being stomped all over by festival-goers (it’s one of the two sites for the V Festival every year), that they’re giving the course a year off to recover.
Bangor PTP’s other two regular meetings (inherited from the defunct Eaton Hall in 2007) are the Flint & Denbighshire on March 8th and the Sir W W Wyn’s on May 23rd.
Can’t really tell you a lot more about next Saturday than that, except;
1) it’ll probably be Eric Windsor commentating,
2) North West Area points can be a bit pricier than many (£20+), but do check the pointing press / websites (e.g. http://www.pointtopoint.co.uk) nearer the time to see if they are offering any discounted admission, e.g. for single occupancy cars.Cheers,
Jeremy
