Does anyone have any news on Nicky Henderson’s Tarlac, I was looking forward to seeing him this season.
February 8, 2008 at 18:18 #141335Welcome to The Racing Forum, JO.

Colin
February 8, 2008 at 18:24 #141337Yeah welcome mate no idea on the horse but the way Henderson is going if it runs and has 4 good legs it wins
February 8, 2008 at 18:29 #141339No festival entries would suggest he’s on the easy list
February 8, 2008 at 18:34 #141343Who Seabird/Colin or Tarlac

Wasn’t he supposed to go for the Tote Trophy or was that last year?
February 8, 2008 at 20:06 #141369You’ve named yourself after a very good horse, J O.
February 8, 2008 at 23:47 #141436A wonderful name and wonderful horse.
February 9, 2008 at 10:23 #141513That’s a terrific article, Grimes.
I remember J.O.Tobin as a very smart two-year-old in this country, trained by Noel Murless towards the end of his career. Impressive winner of the Richmond and very impressive winner of the Champagne, he met his match when going over to France to take on Blushing Groom in the Grand Criterium where he finished third, possibly not giving his running, although Blushing Groom was almost certainly his superior anyway. His owner transferred him to the USA thereafter and he did very well over there as the article says.
He was a disappointment at stud, however.
February 12, 2008 at 13:46 #142537thanks for site to read about namesake. I have seen footage from USA, i just wish could find film of his 1976 wins in Richmond/Champagne at Donny
February 12, 2008 at 16:31 #142576JO Tobin was trained by Sir Noel for his British career before transferring to the USA for more sucess.
The horse was named after a famous heart surgeon and was owned by George Pope who was a friend of the human JOT.
The equine JOT once beat Seattle Slew in the Swaps Stakes at Hollywood Park. Willie Shoemaker rode JOT on this day.
February 12, 2008 at 18:07 #142605Interesting about Blushing Groom, Gus. I read he was an influence for speed and always take note when he is the sire or dam sire of a horse.
February 12, 2008 at 19:35 #142618Tarlac is entered for hurdle races at Ascot and Uttoxeter on Saturday.
