Having backed
Roaring Forte
for the Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot and losing due to a stalls incident, i dont want to miss out on him winning the International Handicap on Saturday, i managed to get a bit of 7/1,i should have taken the 10/1 that was available earlier on! I have backed Fareer for the same race although its beginning to look unlikely he runs! 19 on Betfair is a drifter! I can see Roaring leading early and just keep winding it up all the way home!
Cost me that day!
July 23, 2009 at 12:00 #240543Being able to "Lay" bets is undoubtedly the greatest addition to a Gamblers armoury! I have bet on Golf for a number of years and to watch your 33/1 selection lead for 3 days and 15 holes is a sickener to say the least, when they crack under pressure! I backed the "King of the Bottlers"
Colin Montgomery to win the U.S Open a few years ago at 150/1 e/w mind! He only had to Par the last to win!! The rest is "His story" as they say! This year i backed Lee westwood,£10e/w at 33/1 and £20 at 30 on Betfair, Lee went to 4/5 on the machine with 5 holes to play and i bottled it
thinking the inevitable will happen,so i laid £200 off! Thats what makes gambling so much better than the old days, when i would have had to sit and suffer and then lose! I ended up enjoying the last 5 holes knowing i was in for a guaranteed profit! Now then thisConduit
falls into my strategy for laying Favourites at 7/4,the question is do i?
Thankfully Not!
July 23, 2009 at 17:02 #240590Anybody that knocks this years King George, doesn"t appreciate horse racing. This is a tricky little contest IMO! Golden Sword has a chance if he reproduces his Chester run,but then why is Rockhampton running? Frozen fire will get the pace he requires,so his loyal supporters can have hope! Look Here is an Oaks winner, who"s run in the Coronation Cup shows she has trained on! The clock confirms that! Ask must have Soft ground! The Duke sorted him last year! What a horse he was! 2m27.91 secs confirmed that! Conduit, a St Leger winner, who won a handicap off a mark of 85 does not shout King George winner to me! Ryan never even rode him in the Leger, prefering Dr Fremantle, but he did beat a 90% fit Look here easily??
What is in his favour is this is his minimal trip and if he gets a blistering pace,it will play to his stamina strengths! He is officially rated 3lb better thanTartan Bearer
who does have the form to be a King George winner, purely on last years Derby exploits,i can see a "Stoute" performance from both the Ballymacoll colts, but Tartan will hopefully have the speed to draw alongside Conduit inside the last 100yds and then the Tenacity of a Terrier to out battle his stable companion! Cant wait "Fist"!!!
Poetry from the King, just the wrong way round!
July 24, 2009 at 00:19 #240628Having just watched the re-run of the last race at Doncaster tonight several times,it has to be said that the poor jockey Martin Lane who rode the fav "My Girl Jode" needs to learn very quickly how to change his whip from his left hand to his right whilst trying to ride a finish,it seemed to take an eternity to do it and by the time he did the race was over,he finished 2nd but should have really been laying it down to the winner inside the last! I am sure he will learn from it!! I will say in the lads defense, that his mount wasn"t exactly willing and would not have run past the winner anyway!!
July 24, 2009 at 12:05 #240672Looking at the draw for tomorrows "International handicap" along with the final weights,i am delighted with
Roaring Forte
and have had a bit more on at 6/1, what is jumping off the page at me is M,Johnstons
Crackdown
the horse is going to think he has been let loose with 8-1lb on his back, he has a low draw and being a natural front runner i can see him taking the stand side group along at a rate of knots, these tactics make him an inviting "Lay in running" proposition as he will shorten the moment he breaks from the stalls,i can back him at 15 now and lay him at 2 in running if things pan out! Just so long as he hasn"t gone 3l clear inside the last!
That was a losing bet for me!
July 25, 2009 at 01:09 #240789TAPK is having a quiet night, just sitting on his throne, polishing his crown that sits proudly on his head.Reflecting on what so far has been a very successful year, both playing and laying.I have decided i am going to let my Tartan Bearer wagers run for me.i have £25 e/w at 12/1, £20 e/w at 6/1
and £40 win at 10 on the machine,so as long as Tartan finishes in the 1st 3 i haven"t lost! I could of course lay him off at 4/1 and do a runner for a small profit, but i think a lot of this horse and have been convinced that this has been his target all year! I am well aware that others think the same about Conduit,my problem is that when i assessed this race back in April,
i had Conduit down as a 2miler so i am sticking by my notes in that i feel Tartan is the speedier of the 2! Tomorrow will tell,i really cant see anything that will beat these 2!Great race, great result for Sir Michael!
July 25, 2009 at 20:33 #240910The best horse won and the official handicapper is correct in assessing that Conduit is a 3lb better horse than Tartan Bearer, still a great race to watch and my horse ran right up to his best! No complaints! What is fact,is
there are some smart 3yo"s around this year! Sea the Stars would have won today,no question about it!July 26, 2009 at 17:35 #241046I hope
Record Breaker
shows his true form today at Ascot,he should have the beating of Stategic Mount at the weights and he is no slouch, i have taken 12 on the machine! The "Hong Kong" sprint at 5,10pm should be a cracker,i see Strike up the band has taken a lot of money and is still capable, unfortunately i have him 5lb too high so i wont be backing him!!
Indian trail is the danger to my selection today at these weights,he is drawn on the far side, where asMandurah
is drawn low,i can see him blazing down the stands rail and burning the field off! I have taken
10
on Betfair! Dandy will do me, with one of his i haven"t backed, one of these days!
2 losers there!
July 26, 2009 at 22:19 #241075TAPK has invested again in this years
St Leger
i started backing my selection
Age of Aquarius
in May this year. I only got 10/1 then, i have since backed him at 12/1, 9/1 and 18 on the machine,to date i have a total of £150 on! I have also had a saver to cover all stakes on
Kite Wood
who looks an obvious danger at 10/1! I cant see Golden Sword running, never mind winning,Father Time and Alwaary are closely matched, they are defineate contenders as i believe the trip will suit! What i cant understand is why Aidan has entered "Age" in the Ebor,he is way better than a handicapper, maybe Aidan doesn"t rate him as highly as my humble self! I can see Age of Aquarius powering down the Doncaster straight, more impressively than Scorpion or Brian Boru did! He was my Dark horse for this year at the start of the season,he is beginning to see the light!
Robbed twice there then!
July 28, 2009 at 00:05 #241234Glorious Goodwood starts tomorrow, for 5 days of great racing,i am not the greatest fan of the course as i think its undulations and draw bias particularly over the mile tend to throw the whole field to the far side rail and horses end up getting trapped behind those in front! Anyway i will still be having a bet and as much as i am a fan of Main Aim,i have backed
Finjaan
in the 7f group race at 12/1! I am a firm believer that the 2000gns is the best form race for future winners and Finjaans Dewhurst form is rock solid! I will have to take it on trust that Mr Tregonings horses are in form, that would be my only concern!
A 12/1 winner,backed heavily on course,good post!
July 30, 2009 at 00:18 #241683I will be cheering on my favourite sprinter tomorrow in Goodwoods 5f Audi stakes, its a Group 3 which will suit
Inxile
as his half brother Tax Free failed to give 5lb to Moorhouse lad a couple of years ago in the same race! At 10/1 i should get a run for my money,i just hope Rievaulx world doesn"t run him off his feet early, both being drawn low! Inxile is a slow maturing 4yo who hopefully will eventually contest a Group 1.
It was great to seeRip Van Winkle
get his just rewards today, yet another boost for this years 2000gns,a further enhancement of how good Sea the stars is,yet i have had another £50 at 4/5 to lay him winning the Juddmonte at York as i am convinced he wont run if it rains! We all know who will beat him if he does run aswell!
Another loser!
July 31, 2009 at 00:38 #241857I know exactly what to expect with the draw bias in tomorrows Golden mile at Goodwood but i backed
Dubai"s Touch
in the race last year and he never let me down,so i will stay loyal to him this year! He again runs off a mark of 100,but where as he carried 9-5lb last year, he carries 8-8lb in this years race! At 16/1 i have had an e/w interest! I think all M,Johnsons entries will run big races tomorrow in this!
Not another loser!
July 31, 2009 at 01:09 #241863The
Stewards Cup
is a cracking sprint Handicap and this years renewal lives up to the high standard of handicapper expected to compete!I have backed
Valery Borzov
at
80
and
70
and should the ground turn Soft,he will run a big race! Should the ground be fast i have backed
Evens and Odds
at 34 and
Genki
at 27! Whatever the ground is
Fol Hollow
will handle it and i make him my banker of the day, this horse is still improving and he has Course form,he also ran Prohibit close at Newmarket one day and is 10lb better off!
33/1
is a cracking e/w price
Genki did me proud that day,as Did richard Hoiles!
July 31, 2009 at 19:46 #241967Tonight at Newmarket a horse i marked down as one to follow runs in the 8.35pm!
Raaeidd
caught my eye at Yorks May meeting over a 11/4m,Frankie was in the saddle and he gave him a tender seasonal debut!
Raaeidd has since ran twice like a pig and its not easy to make excuses for those two dismal efforts,i backed him on both occassions! Tonight i am counting on the "Frankie" magic working his oracle in what is a pretty poor race,i had John Smith Cup aspirations for this horse, its time to show a bit of something,i would hate people thinking TAPK backs donkeys aswell as Class horses! I have taken the 5 on the machine! Fingers crossed! I wonder what the man in form thinks of his chances!Fist
your thoughts please?
What can i say! Donkey! Lost again!
August 1, 2009 at 05:08 #242031Valery Borzov D Nicholls

August 1, 2009 at 11:54 #242044Gerald.i only get out on day release! but i should be free soon, for good behaviour! "Buchaill dona" Should be my tip, but i wont back them all just to say i had the winner! I am rain dancing this morning as my heart says
Valery Borzov
Good luck!
August 1, 2009 at 17:33 #242125Well the rain has come in time,so i have snaffled a bit of 34 and 24 to win and 8 to place on
Valery Borzov
,have also topped up on
Fol Hollow
at 34 and 7 to place! I like the look of
Spacious
in the Nassau, she wont be inconvenienced by the ground!
Spacious was a loser for me that day! -
