Glad to see Palace moon has an entry in a 6f listed race at Salisbury
on June 14th, his current rating of 103 is still not that of a July Cup winner, this will give him the chance for a 10lb hike in his rating all being well and is an ideal race to sharpen him up for Newmarket, taken 20,16,14
and is currently 10/1, "J,J the Jetplane" is 6/1 fav, "Main Aim" is 12/1!
Delegator at 16/1 would be an interesting contender as he travels and quickens! Both horses went on to win a race at 4/1 and 2/1! Hopefully Palace Moon will stay in training![/color:2jcef84q]
June 9, 2009 at 01:47 #232856No word on
Main Aims
Royal Ascot target, either the
Golden Jubilee
or the Queen Anne, but currently trades at 27 on betfair for the former, too big considering he is 8/1 with one bookmaker! had £10 on at the price just in case Art Connoiseur doesn"t run!
Main Aim ran well in the July Cup but also ran badly on occassions!June 9, 2009 at 02:12 #232865Looking at the Wokingham,
Something
has attracted money after his eyecatching 3rd at Epsom on Saturday, currently 16/1 across the board.Unfortunately he should have won, so as to incur a 3lb rise in his rating! 93 is not going to get him into the race!
Evens and odds
off a
mark of 99 should certainly get into the race and is still available at 20/1Abraham Lincoln
needs to start showing his true colours! He has dropped 12lbs from his glory day of running Equiano to 4l in last years King stand to a mark of 95!
Wokingham or Ayr gold Cup?
Evens and Odds won at 9/1 for me at Newmarket, another who will get better!
Abraham Lincoln has dropped considerably down the handicap but is a loser in my books!
June 9, 2009 at 11:24 #232907Looking at W/H
King George
prices i see their 3/1f is Sea the stars,
Conduit
is 6/1, Fame and Glory is 13/2 and
Tartan Bearer
is 10/1 along with Ask! Should Tartan win the POW at Royal Ascot i could see him doing a Duke of Marmalade and go straight to the King George,
leaving Conduit to run in the Eclipse! Sir Michael will defineately run Ask in the race as he did last year, we shall have to wait and see about the other 2!Tartan Bearer showed me a profit, but was beaten fair and square by Conduit in the King George!
June 9, 2009 at 21:26 #233002Alexandros
has been my fancy for the
Queen Anne
since the moment Frankie dropped his whip in the Lockinge! Those of us who backed Virtual were very fortunate to collect that day and i am convinced he wants soft ground! The annoying thing is he was 25 on betfair for quite some time and is now 5, so i have missed the boat there! Godolphin have decided to run Gladitorius 3 in this race and is the current fav! Its not the greatest Group 1 this year! I am not a Paco boy 3.5 fan either!
Cesare
has had plenty of chances at Ascot and will still have his loyal supporters! If
Main Aim
is supplemented for this i will be lucky to get7/2 but he is a danger to all! Managed to snaffle 5 on Betfair on Weds afternoon!
Only backed Alexandros once in the above race but was a loser for me!Main Aim became frustrating, but again only backed him twice in the year!I never backed Cesare!
June 10, 2009 at 00:54 #233051Always hoped (Giants causeway- Imagine) would breed,i thought (Rock of Gibralter- Imagine) would make a great pairing, unfortunately their offspring filly Kitty Matchem never lived up to the hype! This pair (Giants Causeway-Imagine) have produced a 2yo colt called
Viscount Nelson
this fellow is a Feb foal, who is also a half brother to Horatio Nelson, so should hopefully be ready to run soon,he is also entered for the "National Stakes" which is always a good sign,i have had a small interest at 66/1 for the 2010 Derby!
Still a bit of a Dark horse,who i expect to improve as a 3yo!
June 10, 2009 at 11:33 #233118Updating my notes from Yorks May meeting, the 4 beaten horses i have noted as future winners
Stone of Scone,
Serious Impact,
Photographic,
and
Raaeidd.
The latter is a progressive sort, still lightly raced and plenty scopey enough for a race like the
John Smiths Magnet Cup
Interesting to see if any get an entry in any races at Ascot next week!
Photographic failed to progress,as did Serious Impact! As for Raaeidd,an absolute donkey who cost me on several occassions!TAPK failed with this one big time!!June 10, 2009 at 12:09 #233124Another son of Cape Cross who is built like a Bull,
Roaring Forte
is a
fine big powerful Galloper, who looks like an idealRoyal Hunt Cup
candidate, he stays 11/4m,handles any ground and at 12/1 is a solid e/w bet! The favourite is Forgotten voice, who looks better than a handicapper
but will need to be to get past my selection! I would like to see DandysRoyal Power
make the cut and at 40/1 could surprise!
Only Backed Royal Power the once but was a loser for me!June 27, 2009 at 01:23 #236544At last
Mourayan
will be running over the trip he was bred for on Sunday, any cut in the ground will suit,he is overpriced at 20/1 bearing in mind he was only beaten 1/2l in last years Beresford stakes by his stable companion Sea the Stars! I hope
Gan Amrhas
shows what a good colt he is too!
Gan Amrhas was a big loser for me in the Derby,to over £100,he went on to dissapoint!I hope he stays in training though!
June 27, 2009 at 15:48 #236599Having backed
The Betchworth Kid
at 20/1, i was pleased to see him draw box 1 now the rains come! Having backed
Record Breaker
at 25/1 i was not pleased to see the rain, even less pleased to draw box 20!! Still should be a great handicap though!
Both horses went on to win at 4/1 and 5/1,and can still pay their way under optimum conditions!Record Breaker showed me a profit!
June 28, 2009 at 15:22 #236761In anticipation of a big run today i couldn"t resist the 80s about
Gan Amhras
for the King George, he should get faster ground there too! If he does run well,Ascots 11/2m would be an ideal race for him! I have also taken 5/2 abouut my favourite sprinter
Inxile
so long as he is fit, bearing in mind he wasn"t on his last run, he is a horse with an improving profile who is better than the opposition! Looks an abbaye sort to me!
Both horses ended up in the Red Book I"m afraid, but will hoefully redeem themselves next year!
June 29, 2009 at 00:09 #236885The only horse i can see beating Sea the Stars over 11/4m is currently trading at 100/1 on Betfair for the Eclipse!
Mastercraftsman
is obviously 99.9% certain not to run, so Aidan must think
Rip Van Winkle
has a better chance of defeating the Derby winner! If thats the case i shall try and recoup my Ante-Post losses on him! 9/2 is a safe e/w price
at the moment as the field looks like cutting up! Had Sea the Stars ran today he would have struggled to confirm Epsom running with Fame and glory! that was a performance worthy of the great race the Irish Derby has always been!Mastercraftsman,my fav 3yo last year, made me a small profit, having backed him at 3/1 for the Irish 2,000 gns and then the St James at Royal Ascot!
June 30, 2009 at 20:37 #237166Having never been a fan of
Rip Van Winkle
i have decided to watch his runs in the Dewhurst, 2000 gns and Derby very closely! This horse has
got mental issues and yet he is still running eye catching races in Group 1"s, One of these days the penny will drop and when it does he could beat
anything put in front of him including Sea the stars! Conduit has No chance of winning over 11/4m IMO and wouldn"t back him at 10/1! He is 6/4 fav for the King George, admittedly the trip will suit, but i can think of
better 11/2m prospects at bigger prices!I was always confident Conduit, was not a 11/4m horse, particularly this day!
July 4, 2009 at 00:18 #237707Big day tomorrow,
Rip Van Winkle
finally showing the potential he has yet to show!! 7.6 on Betfair is too big so the powder that has been kept dry will be ready to ignite! The horse i have been waiting for also runs in the last at Sandown!
Raaiedd
is my banker and have taken 4 on the machine! plenty scope about this 3yo trained by M,Jarvis, who will be better than a handicapper before the end of the season!
Raaiedd ran a very poor race and cost me!July 4, 2009 at 18:50 #237821Yet again the 2000gns form proves what a decent bunch of 3yo"s we have
the pleasure of watching this year! Both Sea the Stars and Rip Van Winkle
proving that they are different class to Conduit over 11/4m! It will be the last time the St Leger winner runs over that trip for sure! I have said it before but there is only one horse that can beat Sea the Stars over 11/4m
and that isMastercraftsman
the Juddmonte or the Irish Champion stakes has to be the clash of the season and i know who i will be supporting!
And what a great 2 horse race it turned into!
July 4, 2009 at 21:46 #237854Raaiedd
cost me today! That was a run from a horse in need of it!
A very dissapointing end to a good days racing at Sandown,i will keep my eyes open for another run in the next fortnight from him!! Like i said before the 2000 gns form is rock solid and the only horse who needs to frank his true ability isGan Amhras
and he should certainly be a big price when he does!! The King George would be my choice although i still think
Tartan Bearer
is the one to beat!!
One of the few horses to let the 2,000 gns form down! Thats why i wont write Gan Amrhas off just yet! Raaeidd on the other hand!!!
July 4, 2009 at 23:17 #237864The
July Cup
is fast approaching, its been one of my favourite Sprints
for a long time! I could have taken 50/1 aboutArt Connoissuer
for this
and would have done had he not done the business big time in the Golden Jubilee making him my biggest ever winner! I have actually backedPrime Defender
at
250
for this, purely on what i thought was an awesome run in last years race! I have also backed
Fleeting Spirit
at 42 and
Tax Free
at
90
we shall see if any turn up,but at least i can lay off at way shorter should the need arise! Scenic Blast and Newmarket go together like me and those who lack foresight!
Classic TAPK, snaffling the big prices and laying off a hot fav! Fleeting Spirit duly did the business!
