Not for the first time today did poor old Tanya look totally out of her depth in the betting ring on Channel 4 today, the Irish chap Brian (forgotten his surname) was far far better bringing some excitement and interest to the show while Tanya just stood there looking embarrassed at how much better her co-host was. Pity he can’t be there permanently especially in place of the woeful Tom Lee.
March 11, 2015 at 00:01 #823913Agreed Stevenson really is an embarrassment.
RUK used Nevison in the betting ring today and to be honest it worked quite well. He needs to learn how to use the microphone properly when interviewing, but you did at least feel as if he belonged there and had something worth listening to.
I disagree with the views on Tom Lee. He might come across as smarmy but at least he is reasonably professional compared to Stevenson who is just a joke.

He needs how to learn to use it full stop. If he didn’t have it glued to his lips it might help.
Can’t agree with you about Tom Lee – absolutely awful and more dull than dull.
March 11, 2015 at 10:03 #824916Different strokes then as I really like Tanya, many on here don’t but I think she is professional and knows her trade and is not on tv. to be a fashionista as that awful narcisstic Emma does ( Emma, hair no. 432 is blowing in the wind), better go and change clothes for the next interview…, give me Tanya every time.
March 11, 2015 at 20:46 #826255She looks as though any confidence she had is completely gone – a rabbit in the headlights, and Brian Gleason looks very much like he wants her job, and will probably get it imo
March 11, 2015 at 21:06 #826285I have never been a fan of Tanya Stevenson’s . No harm to the woman , but she just isn’t
cut out for the job she is paid to do . I always feel that if any TV presenter looks
and sounds uncomfortable on screen , then it inevitably makes for uncomfortable viewing.Brian Gleeson is the consummate professional ; he once was the BBC’s Irish correspondent
during the Grand National meeting a few years ago . He knows his racing inside out and unlike Tanya ,
doesn’t get tongue-tied. Tanya looked uncomfortable in his presence .Channel 4 racing could do with a shot in the arm – Brian Gleeson would be a very good signing
and would give the ailing programme the lift it so badly requires.Gambling Only Pays When You're Winning
March 11, 2015 at 21:19 #826322C4 racing (and that Morning Line, which I can’t watch at all anymore) needs a shot in the head not the arm. Put it out of its misery please.
March 11, 2015 at 21:29 #826326Why are you all having a go at poor old Tanya, she does her job well enough IMO. Work in racing,so find patronising, pushy Balding and know nothing but pat phrases Persad, far more annoying. I suppose you punters think them and big head Dettori are wonderful. There `s no accounting for taste !!!! lol.
March 15, 2015 at 15:00 #835548As soon as I here the phrase’s ‘market movers’ or ‘activity on the exchanges’ I start to look for some drying paint to watch. Totally pointless information. The amount of times the exchanges are proved right in no way indicates they are the oracle for choosing winners. I prefer my own judgement. And as for those charity bets The Morning Line lot pick, my two year old lad has a better strike rate.
March 15, 2015 at 16:22 #835728I think the C4 presenters for fine, except that they insist on wheeling out plummy-voiced Claire Balding for the big meetings. Tanya is OK, tho I agree Brain Gleeson’s passion for the game comes across really well
March 16, 2015 at 10:28 #842055Bring back Big Mc. Calls a spade a spade and knows about the game.
March 17, 2015 at 20:59 #845590Bring back Big Mc. Calls a spade a spade and knows about the game.
Unfortunately, these days you can’t call a spade a spade you now have to refer to it as a “sharp bladed, hand held excavating implement”

....and you've got to look a long way back for anything else.
March 28, 2015 at 03:32 #869065Just noticed this…..glad my own private opinion echoed.. remember her attacking bigmac verbally one Saturday in the studio on morning line circa 2004…no class I thought…. bit loud at times was mac but she was insulting an experienced passionate racing fan…..ranting about cricket…..bit of a Shakespearean shrew methinks

March 28, 2015 at 08:27 #869148I always thought that Alice Plunkett behaved terribly towards John McCririck on a regular basis.
She used to be really dismissive towards him.
Tanya, by contrast was very professional towards him.
March 28, 2015 at 14:48 #869542I think Tanya is very good.
McCririck was the best racing journalist for the punter. Axing him was an act of complete stupidity and arrogance. Channel 4 is a very lib-leftie station. McCririck was bundled out because he had this non-PC schtick.
C4 Racing is DEADLY dull nowadays.
March 28, 2015 at 20:36 #869807Agreed. Like Matt Chapman with his form research ahead of a day in the booth, Tanya is extremely professional, even obsessive about her research on market movers and market trends. She doesn’t just read from websites or have others feeding her information – it all comes directly from her chasing contacts in the industry between segments.
August 19, 2017 at 08:06 #1314333Has anyone seen her recent appearances on RUK including yesterday? Absolutely dreadful, nonstop verbal diarrhoea delivered in the most appalling fashion.
Some of the most ridiculous stats I’ve ever seen, think she said a grey had won 10 out of the last 10 runnings of the 2.10 at Newmarket today.
Isn’t she supposed to represent punters on the HBF? And doesn’t she work for bookmakers? No conflict of interest there then.
What on earth are RUK thinking of putting her in front of viewers?
