Wide open, i like robot boy for this at 33/1 e/w and will probably play a little onnthe exchanges before the off if i can get bigger, york suits and mark is slipping
Soie d’leau at 16/1 e/w also, good runs latest and should reverse form with desert law off these weights, think he will hit the frame
August 22, 2017 at 16:18 #1314874Very nice I’m going to be backing robot boy myself win only on the exchange tomorrow just waiting for a little drift as the layers are always out in force in the minutes/hours before these big field handicaps. Watchable is the other horse I’ll be backing, again win only, come tomorrow, like robot boy it’s down to a very winnable mark and could well have been prepped for this race for some time, a very good jockey booking too which is essential in these races
August 22, 2017 at 18:39 #1314887Strange, as I’m on Robot Boy each-way at 33/1 myself. Whether or not the poor horse can handle the burden of having all of our money on remains to be seen! The Spencer booking was what caught my eye there.
Had a couple of win bets on Moviesta at 12/1 and Orion’s Bow at 9/1. There’s a good chance that Moviesta could outclass these lot given he’s a former Group 2 winner for Brian Smart. He looks to be in form and the last time he competed in a 5 furlong Handicap over here, it was at York, and he won (albeit May 2013). Orion’s Bow is trained by the maestro of sending out winners at this meeting, comes into this on the back two really good runs and is runs off the same rating that saw him finish 2nd in last year’s Steward’s Cup.
Good luck guys.
August 22, 2017 at 19:25 #1314892Bet Move in Time @ 18’s. Would of went close a couple of runs back if not for getting knocked sideways a few times during the race. Back over 5 and dropped again in the weights. Surely his turn must be close with his stable starting to fire in some winners at last.

I was on Move In Time that day and I agree that he was massively unlucky in running.
For me, I’ve played Line Of Reason at 16/1
August 23, 2017 at 11:28 #1314968Always been a graveyard meeting for me, and it had always been a losing meeting for me until last year, when loads went right, and I had a few nice returns………
……not least from Thesme, who landed me each way money at 100’s in The Nunthorpe. That was a serious run from her, and she showed some serious speed, and I can’t possibly abandon her here. The toughest race of the meeting for me, as there are so many who catch the eye…..it is an absolute cracker. Thesme hasn’t been in the greatest of form since, but I suspect she’s been kept for this meeting, and with Dettori an interesting jockey booking, around 12’s with 5 places looks serious value to me.
She’ll be the selection along with A Momentofmadness. Already one of my favourite flat horses, and he’s paid his way for me a few times, and I really do think do think, that despite the concern that he’s looking a wee bit like a “bridesmaid” horse, given time, he’ll be trying his luck outside of handicap company, and he certainly has time on his side. 11’s, again with the 5 places, will do for me.
I’ve put up Move In Time so many times on here that I’ve lost count, and been banging the drum for him for some time. He jumps out to me here, mainly for the reasons given by Botchy, and no surprise to me if he landed it. I can comfortably leave him here though, if I do go for a saver, as should he land it, it still wouldn’t cancel out what I’ve lost on him the last couple of years
EDIT he is now a saver too.I find it hard to imagine that either one of stablemates Line of Reason or Desert Law, won’t be up there at the business end, as the yard seem to excel at getting at least one ready for these big prizes, while recent winners Out Do & Shamson have obvious claims.
If I do have a saver though, and given the above it might just make sense to leave it alone, then it will be on Hoof It. He’s getting on, but his run at Goodwood showed he’s as good as ever. Ideally, I’d prefer him over 6, but with him touch and go to get in The Ayr Gold Cup, which I suspect is the main aim for him, he must run well here to go up a pound or two, and I can easily see him making the 5.
With so many distracting me here, it’ll be relief if something else lands it lol
Edit – Hopefully my pair can do the business, but 2 savers now with Hoof It & Move In Time, it’s getting messy lol

Line of Reason was a non runner for me
August 23, 2017 at 14:06 #1315008I did all my bets last night with the assumption of good-firm ground.
It could be a costly day.
Well done anyone of had the first!
