I think David Pipe holds a strong hand yet again. Hunterview is the obvious one of his. I think the ‘ungenuine’ tag is misplaced given Hunterview’s healthy 33% career strike rate.
He still needs to prove himself in big fields, so I narrowly prefer Noble Request. This ground is vital for him and his recent Ayr win over two previous winners was very impressive.
That suggests he retains plenty of his old (150+) ability so Noble Request gets my call at 20/1.
What do you all fancy here?

OVERTURN will do for me, he has been very impressive since being allowed to bowl along in front, I get the impression he’ll be stepping up from handicap company very soon.
Not a race to invest too much cash in though…….
May 7, 2010 at 19:19 #294559Think you need a horse that is proven in the hurly burly of big fields, so my shortlist is mainly made up of those who have contested and have placed in fields of 15+. Also think it’ll be hard for 140+ rated hurdlers in this context.
Overturn is the likely one – proven in big fields, progressive, 138 mark not insurmountable and goes on the ground. Deserves to be favourite.
Aather usually travels well in his races but sometimes is found wanting at the business end. However he is still young and learning and has a big pot in him I feel. 16/1 represents good ew value.
Conquisto was useful on the flat and looks just as good over timbler. Was mightily impressive at M Rasen last time in a field of 15 and a 4lb rise is reasonable. However he seems to like to make all so may found it difficult here. Nonetheless has a good chance and can improve.
Black Jack Blues was a costly faller last time but form prior to that is solid and is suited by fast ground. 20/1 is quite a big price IMO.
Overturn for me however, with BJB, Aather and Conquisto ew.

May 8, 2010 at 07:23 #294604It’ll be
Gloucester’s
turn to win a big one.
Dan Breen
could run well along with good ol’
Arcalis
. Should be a cracker!
May 8, 2010 at 11:39 #294651I love this race and this renewal looks a fantastic competition. The pipe horse that I think has a great chance is Acambo and I will be having some of it.
. However Arcalis may just have his swan song today.May 8, 2010 at 11:42 #294653There are so many front-runners in this race. I hope they’ll set it up for the hold-up horses like Arcalis, Gloucester and my Noble Request.
I’m not sure about Acambo though – Timmy Murphy has jumped across to Aather which suggests expectations aren’t very high.
May 8, 2010 at 11:57 #294661Carnage race. Black Jack Blues ran well when 2nd to Sir Harry, will have to do, gl.
May 8, 2010 at 12:59 #294685Prices reflect how open this race is, but my three are:
Overturn
– jumping doesn’t help him, but hasn’t stopped him winning
Acambo
– lightly raced and maybe aimed at this?
Ciceron
– a big rise in class but won with head in chest at Perth and could be capable at this level
May 8, 2010 at 13:32 #294693Great line up this year, looks a cracker.
Eradicate for me.

Conquisto and Ciceron are potentially a good deal better than this field following supremely impressive victories last time out and I’d be disappointed if they weren’t thereabouts.
