Reminds me a bit of Arabian Queen. She wasn’t in the Juddmonte in Golden Horn’s era as a pacemaker but they did view her as a no hoper and gave her too much rope behind Golden Horn’s pacemaker ironically. She didn’t win another race after that.

That race was the perfect storm of how huge price horses win big races. Firstly Wayne lordan deceiving even Ryan Moore into thinking that the pace was too hot. Secondly Henri matisse needs a good pace to creep into the race then have one burst of speed. Rosallion did everything right and ran exactly as expected but levey fooled by the perceived pace. Field of gold was clearly struggling on the track and the loose going. Remember he was well beaten in the lagardare on soft going.
I can see any of those behind the winner winning next time if race conditions suit.
BTW I wouldn’t read too much into Kingscote s comments as I think we all know what he meant. When he saw the fave wasn’t coming he knew he had a chance to win or be well placed. Had field of gold loomed up he knew he would have gone past him. No blame attached to him imho.

Unless your pacemaker is a natural front runner in their own right, then by definition all other pacemakers are not there to run and achieve their best possible placing and thus are breaking that rule of racing yet nothing is ever done about it by the BHA………simply because the organisations that can afford to sacrifice pacemakers a plenty (some of which would be stable stars in other yards capable of winning big prizes) are too big and seen as too important to ruffle their feathers by calling them to account and punishing them according to the BHA’s own rules.

Regarding FOG’s run, I don’t blame the ground as overall times show it was as described and the horse has won on good to firm and good ground so he should not have been inconvenienced by those conditions – the undulations clearly played a part as when Buick asked him to pick up and used his whip, the horse became unbalanced and went all over the place and that is probably where the injury was picked up.

I also think that his Ascot run (as impressive as it was) may have also taken more out of him than first thought as it was noted on ITV that he didn’t look as good in the paddock (compared to others) and that he looked ‘a bit light behind’ too. Injuries can often happen when you are being asked to perform when below par.

Wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t see him again until the backend of the season but that provides them with a few new problems as the ground could very well turn soft (for races like the Moulin and QE2) and we know from the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere that those condition isn’t ideal and given his size you would think that even if ground conditions will suit, a BC Mile might be too sharp for him.

Will be interesting to see just what they do, especially as I believe they will be keeping him in training next year.

Perfect example of why I no longer bet in top class races and I’m still chuckling away today!

Just a pity lake Victoria is injured as I think she could well beat the boys. Decision due soon when she’s is back in work or retired. Such a shame as she looks a top filly in a season of very good fillies.

Sadly, I think LV is most likely done and will be retired, Aidan only said she suffered a setback that likely may cause her to miss the rest of the season but there was no mention of what the injury she has picked up is.

Its really unfortunate because of how easily she beat subsequent Coronation Stakes winner and Nassau Stakes runner up Cercene in the Irish 1000g and how that looks like real top class form now and given the disarray the mile division has been left in following the Sussex Stakes, I have no doubt an on song LV would have been a big player in all the mile races upcoming.
