Ferny Hollow 10-1
October 14, 2020 at 12:08 #1506027Any thoughts on Bear Ghylls? Won a Warwick bumper by 19 lengths (Chantry House won it last year). The second has come out and won and the 10th(beaten a distance)was beaten a short head. Your Darling was pulled up and had excuses, but even so he won it in a good time and ran very green up the home straight. Backed it at 66s for this and the Ballymore.
October 15, 2020 at 10:20 #1506118Added Flinteur Sacre 16-1. Because its Henderson.
October 15, 2020 at 10:50 #1506119I can see ferny hollow getting beat in a few small field novice hurdles because he won’t settle
Then running a cracker in this at a big price
Very similar to his season last year
Hes a bit of a nutter so wouldn’t go near him until iv seen him jump
October 15, 2020 at 11:21 #1506123The unsettling may have been coz he was green early in his career. He probably alrite now.
October 17, 2020 at 12:23 #1506396It’s no secret that we’ve always liked this fella a lot. The ground was too testing for him on his debut at Navan, but it was good to see him win so well at Downpatrick on his second start. We’ll start him off in a maiden hurdle at Down Royal at the end of the month and we’re looking forward to him. He’s a horse with plenty of pace, so we’ll start him off at two miles and play it by ear from there.
Elliot on ballyadam
Gonna be very interesting to see if this horse lives up to the hype
October 18, 2020 at 09:09 #1506598I’m on the same two as you Mike
Got 12’s and 20s a little while backBlackbeard to conquer the World
October 30, 2020 at 20:35 #1507858Added ballyadam at 16s this morning
Seen two quotes now one from elliot and one from codd talking up his speed
October 31, 2020 at 06:56 #1507916They said similar about Envoi Allen. And they went the Ballymore. Will see how it pans out.
October 31, 2020 at 08:09 #1507925I don’t think that’s strictly true Mike. It’s certainly similar to the extent they were both talked up like the second coming pre jumping a hurdle, but there are differences in the language worth noting.
In early November 2019 (Betfair stable tour) Gordon said re Envoi Allen – ‘I’d say all he’d do is stay, and if you look at him in all his bumpers from Cheltenham to his first bumper he looks half a mile out like he’s going as hard as he can but last 2 furlongs he picks up and he gallops’. That never screamed Supreme.
Re Ballyadam, Codd and Elliot have been far more emphatic about his natural speed, backed up by his impressive sectionals in his point to point.
I know I’m being picky and come 1.20 today he might do a Malone Road and it won’t matter at all.
October 31, 2020 at 10:48 #1507947Ballymore was always the plan with envoi from what I remember with the odd proviso that he may go supreme if the ground was bottomless
Hes now 1.9 on betfair, may be because the rain has come and he wouldn’t want it too soft
October 31, 2020 at 11:05 #1507955There were also quotes after his first run over hurdles about having enough speed for 2 miles and they would go for the 2 mile grade 1 next Charlie. After those comments one was not sure what race he would go for at Cheltenham.
Additionally, Cheveley Park own Ferny Hollow as well trained by Willie Mullins who also trains Appreciate It. He wont run Ferny Hollow and Appreciate It in the same race. Neither will Cheveley Park likely run their 2 in the same race if they can help it. If Ballyadam goes for this then Hollow Road will have to step up in trip from 2 to 2 and a half and Appreciate It from 2 miles to 3. Alternatively if Ballyadam goes Ballymore then Mullins can split his to Supreme/Ballymore which sounds about right to me. Will Willie Mullins have the final say?
As regards to what Elliott says, take some of it with a pinch of salt, whereas Mullins tends to says all options are open for his for Cheltenham, Elliott will sometimes says one target at Cheltenham early on and then end up going for another one lol. Take Farouk D’alene yesterday, he is talking Ballymore at the moment but you wonder if he is quick or classy enough and they end up going Albert Bartlett later on when they are finalising their entries. Apparently Elliott has also been quoted as saying Ballyadam don’t do a lot at home, and Codd has said he works brill at home.
Will leave it to them to shuffle the packs.
October 31, 2020 at 11:51 #1507971Willie runs his horses in the races they have the best chance in
Hes not as bothered as others at running them against each other
Think
Aramon and klassical dream
Getabird and sharjah
Asterion forlonge and elixir dainayEtc etc
He has so many novice hurdlers he will almost always have a couple in each race
Thats something I’d consider closer to the race once we’ve seen more racetrack evidence
At this stage you can take a punt on the race you think will suit the horse, based on bumper form and what the connections say, that’s why the cash out is important
Could well be that he can’t jump so it wont matter either way
October 31, 2020 at 13:22 #1508009Very nice debut
Solid jumping and in what looked a slowly run race sprinted away nicely at the end
October 31, 2020 at 14:42 #1508038Added Ballyadam 10-1 in case he comes here.
October 31, 2020 at 20:33 #1508126Re CPS and splitting horses, the NH game is their hobby. It means nothing to them in comparison to their flat operation and they are happy leaving decisions to the trainers. The CPS racing manager wasn’t even at Cheltenham to watch Envoi Allen and when asked why he said cause it’s flat breeding season and he’s busy. Whilst the majority of owners will naturally be inclined to split horses it may be a dangerous assumption CPS will too.
November 4, 2020 at 06:06 #1508880Latest Elliott quote about Ballyadam yesterday. The words ‘stay’ and ‘2 miles for now’ appear.
“I think he’s a nice horse, he stays and has speed, everything you want. He’s not the biggest in the world and hurdling could be his game with the Royal Bond likely to be next. I think two miles will be his trip for now.”
