I’d be surprised if Tetlami isn’t Pricewise tomorrow morning.
I’ll be gobsmacked if it is. He’s been told Tetlami won’t get within a furlong of Darlan
March 12, 2012 at 17:09 #396006I would guess Colour Squadron as Pricewise. I’m warming to him and Trifolium emmensley.
Colour Squadron does look reasonable value Aston. Just saved on him @ 17.5/1. Don’t fancy Trifoleum much myself.

Did Tom Segal say that Mark?
If he didn’t it seems just the sort of thing Tom usually goes against. Of course Darlan has a better chance than Tetlami, doesn’t mean he won’t tip the latter for being "value".Darlan has far more speed at home than Tetlami. But tomorrow is a 2 mile race over hurdles on a stiff track; not a six furlong cantre up the Seven Barrows gallop.
Whether Tetlami is tipped tomorrow or not, he has a far better chance than his current odds suggest.

Do you rate his form though ?

Tetlami beat Vulcanite by 3 1/2 lengths on good ground in the 12:50 at Kempton on 26th Dec, giving him 5 lbs. A similar performance to Montbazon beating the same horse by 7 lengths at level weights. OK, Vulcanite may have improved since Boxing Day, but looking at times on the day…
Tetlami clocked less than a second inferior to Binocular in the Christmas Hurdle. Only carrying 2 lbs less than the 2010 Champion Hurdler. That despite Overturn making it the Grade 1 a stern test. OK possibly too stern a test, but even so…
Not many novices have put up a better performance and there’s every reason to think Tetlami has improved since December.Value Is EverythingMarch 12, 2012 at 20:47 #396050Hazy Tom seems quite big at 66/1 (Stan James). It could be that good ground, a fast pace (hasn’t settled last twice on softish ground at Ascot)a LH track and the services of the excellent N Fehily might help him return to form.
March 12, 2012 at 21:30 #396058Tetlami is the one for me, for a second string his odds seem very short plus the fact that N J Henderson would not be running him if he did not have a chance,I like the booking of B J Geraghty as well if the horse can handle the going he will be a major player got 12s with Ladbrokes so happy.
have fun
March 12, 2012 at 22:16 #396072Cant fathom at all why Color Squadron is 16/1 and Montbazon is half the price, think Color Squadron is the better horse beat him once unlucky to lose in another when falling.
Steps To Freedom got to respect him beat some of the contenders here and only one disappointing run so far in his NH career, all the rest very solid.
Prospect Wells another I like even though he has been disappointing in his last two but seemed to have excuses that have been recitified.
Color Squadron and Prospect Wells for me cause they are massive value imo cant seperate these from many of the shorter fancies.
Keeping off Darlan after his very bad fall, although I think he is the best horse. May come too soon.
March 13, 2012 at 03:32 #396105Having seen my best biggtest fancies for the meeting (Ranjann and Roudoudouville) go west my best bet is now….
Galileo’s Choice.
at 8/1.
This horse is class, trust me. The good ground is exactly what he wants and he’ll travel well of this championship pace. He’ll also quicken best.
Need any more convincing? Fellow forumite Cheltenham Specialist has £500 E/W on him!

March 13, 2012 at 08:21 #396116I think that
Distant Memories
is a very good bet at 50/1.
A smart performer on the flat (winning a group 3 in 2010) the faster ground today will be in his favour. He came 3rd last time out but that was on soft/heavy going in a very small field of 4 runners.
I can’t quite understand the price of 50/1 maybe I’m just stupid and it will run like a donk…March 13, 2012 at 08:40 #396120I was interested in Galileo’s Choice but the sire is only 1 from 35 at the track since 2006 which puts me off.
At the prices I have plumped for:
Colour Squadron 16/1 (the Fall lto is a worry)
Tetlami 14/1 (Andrew Tinkler says he is a typical Daylami in that he only just does enough and there is more in the tank. The trainer/jockey combo do well at the course and the horse is unbeaten over hurdles so 14s is more than fair)
Vulcanite 22/1 (Stable in form, Better than he showed lto, was too free)
GL all – it’s a hard one to get us started!
March 13, 2012 at 09:45 #396127Are there any simple text racecards anywhere to copy and paste ?

I recall similar stats being quoted regarding Montjeu before Hurricane Fly won the champion hurdle…

Tuffers – that is true. The Montjeu stat didn’t put me off HF last year as had GR 1 form in the book. Galileo’s Choice has it all to prove in GR 1 company, like many in the race, and I just feel there are runners with similar profiles at bigger prices than the 7s he is on offer at.
I see he is RPR top rated in the race by 2lbs so they obviously rate his chances. Watch him romp home now!
March 13, 2012 at 13:38 #396163Well done, HurdyGurdyMan. Been putting him up for ages.
March 13, 2012 at 13:40 #396164Made a couple of mistakes and still won well, looks a much better animal than the rest. If only we’d have known
March 13, 2012 at 13:44 #396165Just goes to show what the Market knows, the big two drifters Cinders and Darlan finish 1st and 2nd, take no notice of what CH4 say! Well done McCain, one of the best trainers around.
